Present ideas for work mentor

A really special colleague in work is retiring at Christmas and he has been a really wonderful friend and mentor to me for several years. I want to get him something really special for a leaving/retirement present, but am really struggling to think of something extra special. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

what is your budget?

RoobyMurray · 22/11/2010 22:22

I like this game but need more info!

What does he do in his spare time?

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 22/11/2010 22:22

What kind of work do you do?

Could the present be relevant to that?

TuTu · 22/11/2010 22:33

Budget up to around £40-£50 as he has made such a difference to me. He is 70, an accountant (but more a consultant/mentor role), likes walking in the park/on the beach, likes good food and enjoys a drink. Hope this helps!

would you be confident enough to spend that money on a lovely bottle of wine? Or does he not like wine that much?

Other titbits....he always has a coffee brought in to him when he comes into work in the morning. He loves a laugh and is full of one liners. He is wise, warm and caring.

Has he been with the company long? You might be able to find a bottle from the year he joined?

Great idea, could find that out, I would guess at least 15 years
