hiya as some of you know I sold a snowsuit on ebay. Buyer paid over £50 for it because it was brand new . It didn't have tags on because it was planned to be worn but apart from being tried on that was it!
Anyway buyer has e-mailed me saying there is a tea stain all down the front. That is very unlikely, I don't drink tea and this has been hanging in the cupboard since christmas. I checked the item all over and there was nothing of the kind . So what do i do?

ask her to take a photo and e mail it to you? or do you think she would add her own tea stain?

foxinsocks · 21/09/2005 10:16

did you have a photo of it on ebay when you sold it?

laughinglil · 21/09/2005 10:17

Is she a new buyer? I'd let her leave neg feedback and then respond with a valid comment that she's a lying old trout.. then leave her v. neg feedback

MascaraOHara · 21/09/2005 10:21

There is no visible tea stain on the photo.. I bet it just doesn't fit and she's trying to pull a fast one!

laughinglil · 21/09/2005 10:22

I will but it feels sad to get a negative feedback hehe!

Does she say that she wants to return it for a refund or that she wants a reduction on the price?

fqueenzebra · 21/09/2005 10:23

tea stains usually aren't stains -- can usualy be washed out of things ime, too.

laughinglil · 21/09/2005 10:24

no not as yet but I never said anything about a returns policy, so does that mean that I have to give her a refund if she asks for it?

OP posts:
MascaraOHara · 21/09/2005 10:24

Can you offer a refund for return of item? then offer a second chance to the other person bidding?

Iklboo · 21/09/2005 10:24

Did she pay through Paypal? They have an arbitration systemm you can go through and THEY decide on the judgement.

laughinglil · 21/09/2005 10:25

but I know it will come back perfect, or she has done it. What an idiot!

OP posts:
laughinglil · 21/09/2005 10:26

yes she payed through paypal. As of now though she hasn't asked for a refund. The reason she bought it though was probably to sell it on. Even though in my opinion she payed far too much.

she has e-mailed me just saying that there is a stain blah blah blah what shall I say back? help!

SoupDragon · 21/09/2005 11:37

Say that you do not understand her comments about the stain since the item was in perfect condition when you wrapped and posted it. That you do not drink anything that would look like a tea stain and that the item has been hanging, out of harms way, in a cupboard since Christmas.

SoupDragon · 21/09/2005 11:38

Don't say that she is a lying old goat though.

Nemo1977 · 21/09/2005 11:40

woudl also offer a refund less postage costs. Then second chance it when you get it back and can see. then when it is returned if there is a tea stain then fair play if not then u can leave feedback appropriate

hunkermunker · 21/09/2005 11:41

Sounds like she's realised she paid too much for it and is trying to get you to knock something off the price.

There was a thread on here recently - someone had sold their DD's shoes and the buyer said they'd got biro on them. Will have a hunt for it later if you like, or you can search the archives for it? Can't remember who it was though.

hunkermunker · 21/09/2005 11:42

But if she's put the stain on it, that's not fair, Nemo! The pics don't look like it's stained.

hunkermunker · 21/09/2005 11:42

There you go

gigglinggoblin · 21/09/2005 11:42

problem with accepting return is that she will have to add a stain if there wasnt one and then you cant really second chance it. depends on how sure you are about there not being a stain. can you ask for a photo? if its obviously of her doing refuse and just accept that you will get a neg.

SoupDragon · 21/09/2005 11:42

Thing is, if I was the sort of person to complain about a non-existant tea stain and was returning the item, I'd make sure there was a tea stain.

laughinglil · 21/09/2005 11:46

I am not going to offer her a refund. I even sent her additional close up pictures and they show NO tea stain, how could tea get on there anyway? I will ask for photos and compare them to mine.

Is the buyer's feedback all positive? You might want to get in touch (use Ebay to send a message to another member) with anyone who has ever left her negative feedback, see what the story was.

I've done this and several times found that a buyer/seller had exactly the same sort of experience as me with an Ebayer, really lets you know if they are in the habit of doing crooked things.
