hiya as some of you know I sold a snowsuit on ebay. Buyer paid over £50 for it because it was brand new . It didn't have tags on because it was planned to be worn but apart from being tried on that was it!
Anyway buyer has e-mailed me saying there is a tea stain all down the front. That is very unlikely, I don't drink tea and this has been hanging in the cupboard since christmas. I checked the item all over and there was nothing of the kind . So what do i do?

the seller has a shop on ebay selling childrens goods so it looks like she wanted to sell it on! they have 2 negative feed backs in the last year! not a lot is it!

have a look at feedback that she has left for others...that willtell u what she is really like. if i have sold something i tend to add feedback as soon as payment is cleared which maybe the case with feedback she has recieved.

U can respond to neg feedback tho which will explain to any further ppl looking at ur feedback scre if that makes sense

Mojomummy · 21/09/2005 14:07

well it looks like she was willing to pay that price because she put her bid in the last few seconds. Actually, I think what has happened is she & the other person must have put their VERY high bids in around the same time, which is why it has jumped from £25 to £50+. This insn't your problem though..

I suggest a mail to her saying "as described the snowsuit was in perfect unused condition. It was checked before being packaged & there were no marks on it. Therefore I am unable to assist any further.

If she gives you neg feedback, doesn't matter. Just give her the same & say something like you wouldn't do business with her again. I expect she got carried away with bidding (we've all done it, well I have )

MarsLady · 21/09/2005 14:25

I agree with mojomummy.

I don't think you should refund it or ask for it back. She paid more than she wanted to and seems to be trying to pull a fast one.

If she leaves neg feedback then post your explanation. Don't leave feedback until she has left hers.

Fimbo · 21/09/2005 14:35

Agree with last comments posted - you have close up photos to prove there was no stain. I wouldn't refund either, she has obviously shot herself in the foot when bidding - her loss

Janh · 21/09/2005 15:11

Oooh, I agree with mojomummy too - as the last bid showing until the 3rd-to-last would have been just over £20, and then that slightly higher one went in 20 secs before hers, she would only have been expecting to pay about £30, wouldn't she?

Hard luck then - she shouldn't have bid more than she was prepared to pay.

(ll, as seller do you know what her actual bid was? Was it just £51.50 or even higher?)

zippitippitoes · 21/09/2005 15:18

I agree she thought she was being clever with her bid but foolishly put in a bid of more than she wanted/expected to pay

I would say it was unmarked, and refuse a refund.

Presumably, she will say that you stained it prior to posting but in that case why would you send it, so I think you are in a strong position.

No point her sending it back to you because it will have a stain then.

She probably opened it and put it down on her own spilt tea.

Janh · 21/09/2005 15:25

If she tries to post negative feedback, saying it was stained, all you have to do is state that it wasn't stained when it left you, but that buyer placed a surprisingly high bid - then people can draw their own conclusions

Pagan · 21/09/2005 15:29

Yup - stand your ground. You have photos showing it in perfect condition, she's just trying to recoup some dosh IMO.

laughinglil · 21/09/2005 15:30

ooh good one Janh! she hasn't replied to my emails as of yet just sent me the one saying there was a stain. As of yet she hasn't left feedback. hope she does though!

OP posts:
laughinglil · 21/09/2005 15:32

did she do that using that sniper thingy or what ever its called?

OP posts:
Janh · 21/09/2005 16:02

Well there was 15 seconds left when her bid went in, I thought snipers worked later than that - she probably did it herself - silly cow (or goat )

littleun · 21/09/2005 16:24

ive recently had something like this hapen to me, a guy bought a pair of jeans off me on ebay which didnt have any size labels thought we measured them and found they were a 32 waist.
He emailed trying to say they were a 28 and wanted his money back so after a it of arguing (i knew he was lying ) i said if he sent them back id refund them providing they WERE a 28 waist.

Anyway he never sent them back but waited 2 months to give me any feedback and when he did he accused me of being a fraudster and selling fake items!! cheeky git

I'd not give her the chance to wreck the item. Tell her to bog off.

thats what I am going to do. she shouldnt have been so silly in paying £51.50 for a snowsuit in the first place! i wonder what her max bid was?

OP posts:
starshaker · 21/09/2005 17:29

i bought the 2 wee suits off you and they were in perfect condition dont even look like they had been worn. id just tell her to stick it there was no stain on the pic. does ur camera have a date stamp. mine does and i always take a pic of the item before i send it.

laughinglil · 21/09/2005 18:25

thanks starshaker. Yes I will take pics just before I send them for any other people that do this!

SoupDragon · 21/09/2005 18:28

If you don't give her a refund it will be interesting to watch and see if she sells an identical unstained snowsuit in the near future...

Pixiefish · 21/09/2005 18:37

As she paid by paypal she'll probably file a dispute with paypal and may well end up getting her money back anyway. In my dh's experience they normally come down on the side of the buyer and stuff over the seller even if there's naff all wrong with anything. Sorry to be negative but this is what I've found

aloha · 21/09/2005 18:38

£51??? She's a LOON!

fuzzywuzzy · 21/09/2005 18:45

aloha I think the snowsuit was some kinda designer one....you are funny

laughinglil · 21/09/2005 20:05

her reply
Hi Louisa

Well, the stain was there when I opened the parcel and I don't know how a stain like that can appear out of nowhere. Do you accept returns?

Regards
Colleen
