hunkermunker · 20/09/2005 23:38

No, they don't bite. They don't have teeth. Ricky Gervais v funny on this subject in his stand-up. Horrible buzzy boingy things though - yuck!

vickitiredmum · 20/09/2005 23:39

To get rid of them - pull all their legs off!

Seriously - hate them too. I get my other half running round the house catching them and getting rid of them for me. Bleugh.

moozoboozo · 20/09/2005 23:39

Is there any point to them? What purpose do they serve? What can they possibly do in their incredibly short lives?

There is many a night when I have jumped up from the computer screaming and running away, while Dh asks what's wrong?

Stupid bumbling daddy long legs, always take a shine to my computer screen, I hate them.

And I also ask the question what is their purpose? Other than to frighten the living daylights out of me and others?

Skribble · 21/09/2005 01:28

Apparently they are the most poisonous insect in UK but completly useless as they have no way to deliver poison.
I have my trusty electrified racket to hand

purpleturtle · 21/09/2005 07:01

Must have been a really good year for them or something. My parents place is absolutely infested! We were resorting to keeping windows closed till we couldn't bear the heat, then turning all lights off and sitting in a cool draught in the dark for 5 minutes to cool the place down!

I don't mind them much, actually. But I HATE spiders.

biglips · 21/09/2005 08:28

i also had one in here last nite about 9pm and was bouncing off the walls - yuck!!

pixel · 22/09/2005 22:00

It was in the paper today that YES there are more of the horrible things than usual. The good news is they should all be dead by next week!

pixel · 22/09/2005 22:02

Oh and apparently they make good food for migrating birds. So that's what they're for then!

Rhubarb · 22/09/2005 22:15

A large book, then run. That's what I usually do. Someone on here suggested a while ago to use the sucker bit on your hoover. Personally I couldn't get that close, but you might want to give it a go?

charliecat · 22/09/2005 22:17

they only live for 12-24 hours...I read that today ...bet you didnt know that

pixel · 22/09/2005 22:34

I miss my cat . She used to catch them for me.
