Why do people pay such daft prices on ebay??

I am used to seeing marked up primark stuff and can understand why people want to avoid queues.

But why would you pay up to double for a handbag from debenhams that is in all stores, there are no long queues and has actually been reduced. I bought this bag the other week for £40 and it is now being sold on ebay on a buy it now basis for £75!

God knows, twinset - and p&p £7 on top? Bonkers.

Pity the id is secret, we could all email with our tat and see if they would buy that too.

Ohhhhhh - unless the seller is bidding on their own stuff.....(cynical? moi?)

Have no idea, but will be more than happy for someone to pay a silly price for my car! Just crossing my fingers that it will sell at all.

It amazes me, what people will pay for children's bedding sets from Next. You can buy them new for the price people are prepared to pay. Crazy

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 22:58

I was wondering if they were bidding on their own items as their are two of them at £75 both with one bid. Having said that the same bag is listed under another seller at £53 with seven days to go and 13 bidders having a go. Other sellers also have it at £75.

Kind of makes up for it being plastered over a magazine on the arm of Colleen Rooney today. I bet Debenhams regret reducing them to clear out now!

Fimbo, i was thinking that just yesterday! i put in a reasonable bid for the elusive 9-18 months gro bag! and someone ended up paying 14 pounds!!!!! they are nearly that new!! madness and the effort involved! im far too lazy, im going to brave an nct sale next week hurray!!

Fimbo · 20/09/2005 23:02

NCT sales are usually quite good - have fun!!

Went to first one when dd was a couple of months old, i thought it would be like a little country jumble sale! wow was i wrong. to some people it was a like a military operation to gather everything they had on a list. I could only look on.....but did get totally caught up in the end, but bought worng sized sheets and huge ugly dress! getting my flak jacket on this time! have a serious shopping list!!

I don't buy stuff on Ebay for this very reason. It's not a bargain at all.

TwinSetAndPearls · 20/09/2005 23:19

I have had some real bargain off ebay but I only buy things if I know approximatley how much the retail cost would be. But I agree you can't assume that it must be a bargain just because it is on ebay.
