Discuss.. (please)

I am having this discussion elsewhere and amazed at some of the views. Just wanted to see what the general concesuss was on here.. without spouting my own views!

Yes.

I guess there are a tiny minority of disabled people who live in fabulous mansions because they have very rich relatives who support them, but I think they are probably likely to be so unrepresentative of normal people with disabilities, that it's not really worth having a badge system which means-tests them. I think we can afford the odd 3 people in the country who are disabled and could afford to pay for their parking. If we couldn't, there's something wrong with us. (Mind you, imo there's a lot wrong with us anyway, but that's about 100 other threads.)

It's surreal how people want to pick on people worse off than themselves.

SoupDragon · 19/09/2005 21:35

How do I make things bold on BW?

tigermoth · 19/09/2005 21:39

yes, of course disabled people should have free parking - don't tell me someone has started an argument about this!

'I can't believe it'( victor meldrew voice)

Caligula · 19/09/2005 21:40

Just read rest of thread and must tell you something outrageous re friend of mine - she wants to get a ramp so that on sunny days, she can go in the garden without waiting for her DH to get back home to help her (because she'd have to wait 8 hours...) and her liaison person (whatever their job is) has said "oh no, we don't like to give those, in case it makes them lazy".

Simply cannot believe that people still talk like that nowadays.

SleepyJess · 19/09/2005 21:41

Oh yes Tigermoth.. trust me they have! And it rages on and on...

Yes. Simple as that really.

starshaker · 19/09/2005 21:43

think yeah they should get easily accessable parking but no dont think it should be free. does that mean people on low incomes should also get it free

Hulababy · 19/09/2005 21:43

On the link. it'll be in the Discuss, Debate... section.

But it is BabyWorld - what else can you expect?!
