I agree with those who say why shouldn't they have to pay for their parking?I think disabled people in this country get plenty of benefit and things to help them already.I know a disabled couple who have 2 cars and don't work they don't have to pay any road tax because they are disabled. They have just bought a computer for one of their birthdays.I also know a few disabled people who could go to work but don't want to because their benefit will be reduced if they do.How about that then?

zorba · 22/09/2005 18:02

Oh and I also know a disabled couple who have had a free new boiler when theirs broke and we all know how expensive those are.I don't begrudge them don't get me wrong but why shouldn't they pay for parking too?

misdee · 22/09/2005 18:04

its their money to do what they wqnt with. why cant they buy a pc, r get their boiler replaced. maybe they took out cover for the boiler.

ffs would u want them to remain without technology and heating?

SoupDragon · 22/09/2005 18:17

and exactly why should anyone go out to work if it leaves them worse off financially??

SoupDragon · 22/09/2005 18:18

Interestingly controversial first post too, Zorba.

Tortington · 22/09/2005 19:26

am assuming you havent got an immediate family member who is disabled. would you swap to get the cars, the benefits, the boiler, the free parking?

Tortington · 22/09/2005 19:26

i have to ask becuase having a disability sounds so attractive doesnt it?

misdee · 22/09/2005 19:34

anyone want free parking in return for having peters illness? nah, didnt think so.

hunkermunker · 22/09/2005 19:38

Monkeytrousers, I posted quite prophetically re a ruck with BW

Are you calling me a chimp?

PS - PMSL!

Jimjams · 22/09/2005 19:39

"disabled person has computer" shock horror. And a boiler! What they have central heating? Bastards. Bloody get the lazy gits stoking the fire- and whilst they're at it they can get down t'pit to dig the coal themseleves (if there were any left).

Oh someone hoot for me please.

monkeytrousers · 22/09/2005 19:46

And NOW I get the name - strike a pose!

hunkermunker · 22/09/2005 19:48

Monkey pepperoni...now there's an idea! Sliced tail, perhaps? That's vile, now I think about it! Well, I am a bad mouse. I can't help it!

Caligula · 22/09/2005 19:53

pmsl at zorba. D'you know, I have a friend whose disabled, and she went and bought herself new shoes the other day.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't begrudge her them, but we all know how much shoes cost, and considering she's not going to be walking in them, how comes she needs to go and buy a new pair. I mean, surely the tax payer doesn't need to finance her trip to Brantano?

Sheesh.

misdee · 22/09/2005 19:55

pmsl cagulia. my dh has bought now end of gadgets since being in hospital. he has a portable dvd player, a nintendo advance and a stack of games, loads of dvd's, lots of new pj's. dear me, what is he spending his disability money on. maybe we should send him out to work.

monkeytrousers · 22/09/2005 19:59

And I hope he's not playing the lottery with those benefits, Misdee!

misdee · 22/09/2005 20:02

i play it for him

he isalso scoffing loads of chocolate, disgraceful really, he should appricate the free hospital food he gets

SherlockLGJ · 22/09/2005 20:05

JimJams and Caligula.

Helpless laughter this end.

SherlockLGJ · 22/09/2005 20:09

Caligula

You just dont get it, do you ??

She buys them, she wears them, then she flogs them on Ebay as almost new, which in turn finances the next purchase, which may save us able bodied tax payers some money.

Money, we will then be in a position to redirect to wasters at Harefield who scoff chocolate and have the audacity to believe that they will one day(soon we at MN hope) be well enough to go back on the list. The sheer audacity of the man.

spursmum · 22/09/2005 20:14

Sorry to butt in here but can anyone please reassure me that I have done the right thing in telling everyone to b*gger off when they told me to apply for a blue badge?
My ds has ASD but doesn't run into the road, holds my hand and is very aware of the traffic.
My mother is the worst as she says I'm "entitled" to it. I don't believe in getting something I don't need just because i can.
Sorry for the hijack.

misdee · 22/09/2005 20:16

i dont think you'd get it atm anyway spursmum as he is only 3. carry on tewlling your mum to bugger off!

monkeytrousers · 22/09/2005 20:16

If that's what you want to do then that's the right thing Spursmum.
