Anyone familiar with the BNF?

Wonder if anyone can help me. I'm in the process of shopping around to get the best price on a private prescription. I've logged onto the BNF to get some more info about the drugs and notice a cost/price ascribed to each drug.

Is this the amount the pharmacist gets reimbursed if dispensing this drug on the NHS? ie is this the cost to the NHS. If not, what is it?

I should know this as I used to work for a pharmaceutical company but brain space has been taken up with other stuff since!

Many thanks,

isn't the price how much each unit costs the gp surgery/hospital to prescribe the drug?

Good grief! When I first saw that title, I wondered if you were talking about the British National Front! If such a thing exists!!

IIRC, you are right - but it's a long time since I had to know this, too.

I thought it was the Britsh National Front as well....! I can relax now.
Sorry I can't help with the answer to your post.

AFAIK the price quoted is the price the NHS has to pay. HTH.
