Advice about moving to Rutland

Hi there

We are considering a move to Rutland and I wondered if anyone lives there and can let me know what it is like? We would like to move somewhere rural, but not completely isolated, and somewhere with good schooling for our 3 year old that is safe and family-friendly. We think Rutland fits the bill from the research we have done. We think a village or small town like Uppingham might suit us.

Any gems of wisdom appreciated please and thanks!

Oakham is lovely. It's a small town with nice schools and beautiful countryside.

Stamford is lovely too though not quite in Rutland, market day on Friday and a smaller one on Saturday.
Great pubs.
I went to school in Rutland(Morcott)and grew up in Stamford.
I love it there.
Rutland water(Empingham resevoir) for outdoorsy types, with cycling, boating etc.
Lovely villages and countryside.Envy

We visited this weekend and really like Uppingham, Stamford and Oakham. Thanks for your pointers, we will spend more time there and find out as much as there is to know!
Thanks again
