ok - just gone to clean my carpet - and got there and though OMG - what do I use???

Anyone got any tips for cleaning carpet (manually)??

how big and what is the stain? or are you cleaning the whole thing?

lots of little patches which are really mucky - don't know what the stains are, but I'm already get down on my hands and knees and scrub too .

(it's one of those horrible "extra short pile" carpets so doesn't matter if I scrub the life out of it - won't leave any 'lasting' impression on it LOL).

ive found that mr muscle all purpose spray diluted in some very hot water quite good (its a pinky colour in a clear bottle). though you could try anything similar as long as it doesnt have bleach in it.

have you got any bi carbonate of soda? greatly recommended by kim and aggie

we use vanish carpet and upholstery spray which is really effective

compo - tried the Vanish carpet stuff - hopeless I'm afraid.

dab some on the end of your cloth or scrubbing brush (wet cloth/brush) and rub it into the stain. though if vanish hasnt worked this might not either as vanish is pretty strong stuff.
