I've got some stuff finishing in the next hour or so and I'm sitting here refreshing my andale counters every couple of minutes to see if anyone else has looked at them, or bid on them

I was bidding on some jewellery making stuff last night & was winning for ages but then there was a last minute flurry of bids & I was outbid at the end
(I didn't think the things were worth what was finally paid!)

laughinglil · 14/09/2005 15:09

it seems I am a bit of an ebay addict too! I would really like an ebay topic on mumsnet it would be very helpful. I love to know what people are selling on here and handy tips would be great!

chonky · 14/09/2005 15:13

So how did you do, any surprise sniping at the end?

I'd love an ebay topic too.

QueenOfQuotes · 14/09/2005 15:24

Foundations went for £5.50 and £2.20, a little bit of sniping at the end for the Ice Vine gift set, went for £1.95.

The diet scales and skin so soft lotion didn't sell.

Got two more items finishig in the next 45 minutes - a NEXT clock (already on £5.09 and some Avon Men's Sunglasses - no bids yet).

I agree an ebay topic would be fabulous - there's always SOOOO many threads about ti.

OP posts:
laughinglil · 14/09/2005 15:27

i've heard so much about 'sniping' but what is it?

chonky · 14/09/2005 15:28

Take a look at this, will explain all

auctionsniper

laughinglil · 14/09/2005 15:31

o right thats ok...bit unfair isn't it? so the sellers don't lose out in any way?

QueenOfQuotes · 14/09/2005 15:32

nope - sellers do even better from it

if you've got a fast connection, and are online when the auction is about to finish, it is possibly to snipe on your own, but it takes practice to get the timing right

OP posts:
laughinglil · 14/09/2005 15:38

I suppose thats a good thing. I havent really become addicted to buying on ebay but I love selling stuff. I just don't do too much at a time.
How comes the post office people seem p**d off everytime i go in there?

sweetheart · 14/09/2005 15:41

probably because their work load has doubled since Ebay was launched

QueenOfQuotes · 14/09/2005 15:49

yes yes yes - just got a bid on the sunglasses with just 4 minutes left (only 50p but I'm not complaining LOL).

OP posts:
laughinglil · 14/09/2005 16:02

about a week ago an auction ended with a new bidder coming in at the end. They bid 2 seconds before it finished. However they haven't payed yet? should i give them a bit longer?

laughinglil · 14/09/2005 19:00

laughinglil · 15/09/2005 10:42
