I need some ideas for my Godson's Christening Present. I want something that would be useful/ beneficial when he's older. Rather than something that would gather dust and get put in a box. I had thought of buying malt Whiskey but not sure. I'm looking to spend upto £150. Any ideas welcome

How about an antique item like a clock? Can use it when older and may well increase in value? Or a first edition kids book? Please ignore me if I'm on totally the wrong track!

A nice silver roman coin? You can get it framed. Boys love Romans. At some point he will do Romans at school- mine took their coins and got masses of attention.

DH bought his Godson a case of port from a top year and gave it to him for his 18 by which time it was worth a small fortune.

Trouble is, how many 18 year olds want to drink port? By the time he is old enough to appreciate it it will probably be past it's best.
