Fio2 · 12/09/2005 21:53

how did he do it? i dont get it? is it not in your programs and you just enter the password when it asks you?

spacecadet · 12/09/2005 21:54

you cant uninstall windows messenger as it comes with the computer, but he uninstalled msn 7, so i downloaded it again but it refuses to sign in, strangely though, windows messenger does not appear on the task bar.

Fio2 · 12/09/2005 21:56

have you gone into proigrams to check it is there? mine used to be on the taskbar but now i have to pick it up from programs everytime as for some reason it refuses to stay on the taskbar!

Fio2 · 12/09/2005 21:57

spacecadet · 12/09/2005 21:58

Go to 'Tools', 'Internet Options' and click on the privacy tab then on 'sites'. Check if the msn sign on page has been barred on there.

spacecadet · 12/09/2005 22:07

oh ok, will check.

OP posts:
spacecadet · 12/09/2005 22:10

do you mean, start, then internet options?, if i click onj tools in the top of my screen it doesnt give the options you suggest.

OP posts:
SlightlyTaintedSaintGeorge · 12/09/2005 22:12

Ah - on mine 'internet options' is under tools at the top of the screen.

SlightlyTaintedSaintGeorge · 12/09/2005 22:12

Start, control panel, internet options then.

spacecadet · 12/09/2005 22:14

yep done that, its not in the list of restricted sites and to make matters worse clicking on the msn help link has downloaded spyware onto my comp, so will have to clean up now...grrr.

You can uninstall windows messenger, I think it's in windows components.

spacecadet · 12/09/2005 22:41

oh can you..drat, maybe thats what hes done, uninstalled windows messenger so msn 7 wont work.

OP posts:
spacecadet · 12/09/2005 22:41

wheres windows components?

OP posts:
SlightlyTaintedSaintGeorge · 12/09/2005 22:44

MSN 7 download should still run though, even if plain messenger was uninstalled.

Easy enough to reinstall messenger anyway - control panel, add/remove programs, windows components and tick the correct box.

spacecadet · 12/09/2005 22:52

try to reinstall windows messenger by going to add remove programs, it goes through the process but when i check the list of installed progs again, its not there..

OP posts:
spacecadet · 12/09/2005 22:54

just manage to re install windows messenger, but it still wont sign in

OP posts:
SlightlyTaintedSaintGeorge · 12/09/2005 22:55

What error message are you getting?

Lonelymum · 12/09/2005 22:59

Sorry, this is a hijack, but why are you slightly tainted Saint George? What have you been doing?

spacecadet · 12/09/2005 23:00

on windows, i get, messenger is temporarily unavaliable please try later, and on msn, we were unable to sign you in, your firewall may be preventing us from signing you in,and an error code.its not the firewall btw cos i checked, i even turned it off and tried to sign in again.

I really should keep the tainted name for the Godtower thread but can't be bothered to keep changing.
