Your message ideas for wedding card

I can never really think of anything great, any ideas?

It's not for a hugely close friend. She getting married in Portugal and although we have been invited we can't make it.

So, any ideas as to what to put in card that's not just 'Have a great day, sorry we can't be there'?

"I wish you both healthy - wealth and happiness for the future"

Thomcat · 09/09/2005 17:23

Yeah I go for that one a lot and I've said that in teh message that the best man is reading out to them on the day.

How about "May the seed of your loin be fruitful in the belly of your woman" (as said by Neil from the Young Ones)

CountessDracula · 09/09/2005 17:29

oh sorry she's a girl

Wishing you the marriage that you dream of, the future that you hope for, and the togetherness to keep loving each other whatever reality may bring.

brides name) and (grooms name), as you say I DO
And promise to love your whole life through
Remember that today is just a start:
Just a beginning, a pledge from the heart

A marriage isn?t dresses or aisles or rings
Or wedding cakes and invites and all those things
It?s taking and giving in equal share
It?s promising that you will always be there

When things depress you and get you down
When you?re feeling sad and he?s acting the clown
Remember this day, and why you chose to be here
Then Thank God for each other, year after year.

hang on, I've got one moer somewhere....

This is your day, let's raise a champagne toast,
when you join your life and heart to the one that matters most.
Love found you both now the rest is up to you
As you combine your hopes and dreams with those two words- I Do.

The dreams we have don't end when we meet our love
We merely start to share them with one sent from up above
We share tradition, past and future for the best is yet to come
All starting from the special moment when you two will become one.

no slushy poems [grimace] Just 'wishing you all the best for the future' will suffice

lucy5 · 09/09/2005 18:38

DONT DO IT !

PeachyClair · 09/09/2005 18:38

In America they are heavily into scrapbooking, which actually I like too- memory album making is nice I think- but whilst here it's nice papers, ribbons, etc they're HEAVILY into the cheesy poem factor. . there are just SO many!

Shakers rattle, are you listenin'?
In the aisle, beads are glistenin'!
A beautiful sight, we're happy tonight!
Walking in a scrapbook wonderland!

Gone away is my money
Here to stay's my croppin' buddy!
We're singing a song As we shop along
Walking in a scrapbook wonderland!

In the workroom we can build a layout
Using diecuts, Punches, fibers too!
We'll have lots of fun making our layout
And they have just the right shade of Bazzill blue!

Later on, we'll conspire
As we crop by the fire
To bring all our pics and our hermafix
Walking in a scrapbook wonderland

In the workroom we can build a layout
With our eyelets, stickers, tags and Brads.
We'll have lots of fun making a layout!
All those Patterned Papers make me glad!

When we crop, ain't it thrillin',
Though the shop's makin' a killin'?
We'll frolic and play the Scrapbooking way
Walking in a scrapbook wonderland.

Walking in a scrapbook wonderland.

Walking in a scrapbook wonderland!!!!!!

That is excellent!

We should adapt it slightly and have it as our card making group mantra on the Arts and Craft forum

PeachyClair · 09/09/2005 18:43

Great idea- you should post a link! And in case anyone thinks I'm a meanie laughing at other poeple's poems the cheesy wedding ones were ones I did for cheesy people's wedding cards! - I put them on the cheesy American site and they were very popular For some reason, it's what people expect in a card.

NoPearls · 09/09/2005 19:21

One of our cards said:

Just Wed?
Just Wonderful!
Just Wait...
