I am at panic stations now because I have to have an assignment for my Masters course done in less than a week. I have done 400 words out of 4000
I will not be posting but if you do see me, tell me to bu**er off

OP posts:
codswallop · 11/08/2003 09:31

ill take that as a no the m?!!

metired · 11/08/2003 09:35

you are doing it for the sense of acheivement I guess, I don't need to study for work as am a nurse practitioner/ sister, I will only need masters if I want a nurse consultant job, but I am not sure if I do,so I guess that I study because I enjoy it, if you need help with research I love research have just done advanced module and will be doing masters in evidence based practice, I know I am mad!

motherinferior · 11/08/2003 09:48

Mears, do you want mine on how Jane Eyre is essentially a rewriting of Wuthering Heights? Or I can offer a shorter thesis on Edward Lear's limericks and theories of children's lit..

...if you do need a justification for mumsnetting you can answer my query from a while back on whether expressing to empty boobs completely helps with overfilling (it does seem to)...

mears · 11/08/2003 15:49

Crisis - couldn't log onto mumsnet all day. Did I do my assignment instead? Bet you can work that one out @)
LOL codswallop

I am aiming for eventual consultant midwife post but don't know if that ambition will ever be realised unless I am prepared to move.

Oh well, back to the grind...

Mears - can't you borrow some of the stories from Mumsnet as "case studies" - I'm sure there must be lots written about intefering Doctors and fantastic midwives(I know I wrote loads under a thread about too much intervention and also reasons for choosing an independent midwife...)
Now bugger off, and keep writing lass!

SoupDragon · 11/08/2003 17:46

Mears, I've seen you posting again... I assume tsat means you've written another 500 words or so??? If so, well done, if not b*** off!

motherinferior · 11/08/2003 18:37

I still want to know about the boobs...anyway, what is your main dissertation on?

mears · 12/08/2003 00:48

Totally pissed off. Have no idea what my main dissertation will be on - at this rate I won't need to bother about it. I am going to speak to my tutor tomorrow for inspiration. No words to add to total score today I'm afraid

DS no.1 will get his standard grade results tomorrow (today) - that is much more exciting

Motherinferior - I have read that expressing breasts completely helps with overfilling. In fact, for women who have problems with excessive engorgement when not breast feeding - a once off complete expression is recommended. Sorry I missed your question

OP posts:
motherinferior · 12/08/2003 10:20

Oh thank you - and good luck with DS1!

mears · 13/08/2003 17:01

He passed them all thank goodness He really worked hard after having poor prelim results.

Now on with work - am up to 1600 words - are you impressed?

OP posts:
princesspeahead · 13/08/2003 17:08

(Imagine this post is being said to you in a SLIGHTLY patronising way, by a 55 yr old male obs consultant in a bow tie and slightly too shiny shoes. his hands are behind his back, and he is shaking his head slightly)

mears, mears, I don't think I need to point out to you that you are slowing down considerably on the really quite impressive pace you were making on sunday. now if this is all a little too much for you to manage right now, I'll quite understand. But frankly I'd have thought you'd be almost up to the 2500 word mark by now. I'm afraid I'm going to have to take your chocolate away until you have made the sort of progress that I - and you - know you can make...

that should make you pissed off enough to blast through the rest of it!

And I'm afraid my dissertation was "the revival of the Watteau-esque "Fetes Galantes" in mid-19th century french poetry". Which was of no use to anyone then, and is certainly of no use to anyone now!

mears · 13/08/2003 19:26

I have got the answer. DH has transferred what I have writtn so far onto his laptop. I will not be able to keep clicking onto mumsnet to see what is going on. I will ofcourse have a wee look before I go to bed

OP posts:
mears · 18/08/2003 01:47

Well here I am still bl**dy well typing away. I am actually at work but it is really quiet thank goodness. The assignment deadline is 12 midday, today aarrgghhh. I now am in danger of going over 4000 words because I have written a lot of tosh
Better get back to it incase a busload of labouring women arrive

OP posts:
EmmaTMG · 18/08/2003 08:43

Mears, Hope that busload didn't appear and you got fininshed.

Of course you'll have to let us know the result you get. Good Luck

metired · 18/08/2003 09:18

I was wondering how you were getting on mears - good luck we are all thinking of you

princesspeahead · 18/08/2003 10:12

good luck!
don't worry about going over - crossing out a few paras is always particularly satisfying....

katierocket · 18/08/2003 10:21

good luck mears. hope it goes OK. keep going!

mears · 18/08/2003 10:58

It's finished and submitted, all 4100 words. Now I can go to bed. Thanks everyone

Well done Mears. I love that feeling when essays are all over and done and dusted and handed in. You star- have a good rest and then post lots on here. (Or perhaps the urge to post will leave you now that it's officially allowed and no one's telling you to bugger off?)
