I am at panic stations now because I have to have an assignment for my Masters course done in less than a week. I have done 400 words out of 4000
I will not be posting but if you do see me, tell me to bu**er off

ScummyMummy · 10/08/2003 11:41

What do you think you're doing, mears? Bugger off and do that assignment. NOW.

taboo · 10/08/2003 12:03

Lol mears

I'm also supposed to be studying as I have an assignment due on Friday and I'm quite behind with my reading at the moment. I just cannot get into it & I'm about to email my tutor to ask for an extension. So now I'm wasting time checking up on mumsnet instead...

Now bugger off

WideWebWitch · 10/08/2003 12:27

Mears, I reckon you can allow yourself an hour of mumsnet but ONLY if you've managed 1000 words or something. Actually, maybe not, Bugger off

mears · 10/08/2003 13:24

598 words. I can't bloody do it. Aaaarrrggghhhh.

OP posts:
Janstar · 10/08/2003 13:31

Split it up into manageable chunks. 4000 words divided by 6 days = 650 words a day = 100 words an hour. Reward youself every 1000 words with 30 mins on mumsnet. Now bugger off.

taboo · 10/08/2003 13:42

Eat lots of chocolate and comfort food while you're writing. That'll give you the strength to go on and hopefully make it more enjoyable.

tamum · 10/08/2003 13:46

I know- put the title on here, and we'll all take turns to add a sentence. We'll have it done for you in no time

mears · 10/08/2003 14:02

I've just has an Echo biscuit and a cup of tea. Had to stop writing ( actually hadn't started) because a wasp flew in. Managed to get it out and shut the door.

LOL Janster

My title is 'Professional Relationships within a Midwifery Led Unit' - think I will actually write the title once I've written the text cause I don't think I want to write about that any more. How can you pad out - 'good midwives are brill and doctors interfere too much' into 4000 words?

Right - I am going to go off the computer and hand write at the moment. Sometimes I can type straight in but I have too many distractions now!

Will clock in later. Enjoy your day everybody - think of me sitting here crying.......

Tortington · 10/08/2003 15:23

mears bugger off

mears · 10/08/2003 16:11

Well that is the wshing basket empty - I'll go and bugger off

OP posts:
motherinferior · 10/08/2003 17:00

Can you put in case studies/examples, to demonstrate the full range of relationships? I find that takes up lots of lovely words.

Now bugger off.

Tinker · 10/08/2003 17:06

Oh yes, and lots of quotes direct from text books pads it out a lot as well. And write the intro after you've written the rest of the essay. By then you know what you've written about.

Now scram.

eidsvold · 10/08/2003 18:44

Get on and get that assignment done and then you can post all you like..

codswallop · 10/08/2003 19:08

mears i simply cant say bugger off to you. It would be like saying it to the Queen

So instead I will say Clear Orrf.

bossykate · 10/08/2003 19:24

haven't read any of this thread - don't even know who started it, but for heaven's sake GET ON WITH YOUR ASSIGNMENT!!!

princesspeahead · 10/08/2003 20:37

bugger off, mears...
...but keep one eye on mumsnet in case any of us go into labour and need your advice!

good luck! longhand is a good idea, much easier to structure your thoughts that way I find

mears · 10/08/2003 20:40

Now up to 850 words. Hellish eh?

OP posts:
princesspeahead · 10/08/2003 20:47

which means you have doubled your output and are 1/5th of the way through.
have a kitkat!

kaz33 · 10/08/2003 21:16

If it had been on the Ghanian cocoa industry in the 1950's you could have borrowed mine from university.

Not that useful huh, unfortunately you are probably the only person on Mumsnet who can write the assignment.

Now.....

mears · 10/08/2003 21:18

That's very positive PPH Well I am 1058 and am on the wine. The kids are desperate to get on the computer so I will give it a break. I'll ste the alarm clock early tomorrow. Thanks for your words of encouragement

OP posts:
tigermoth · 10/08/2003 22:50

mears, good luck. I always find I write much quicker and more effectively in the early morning when the house is quiet. And you've done way over 1,000 words already, so that's a quarter of it out of the way. That's brilliant!!

Now go to sleep or watch TV and unwind. I can't say the 'b' word to you either.

mears · 11/08/2003 01:12

1133 words now. You'll all be glad when I've finished this thing as well I'm off to bed. I am going to promise myself that I will do 1000 words tomorrow (maybe).

OP posts:
metired · 11/08/2003 08:30

go for it girl, you have my every sympathy (after handing in 3,500 words of rubbish last week for my degree), I couldn't go cold turkey from mumsnet, so I set myself limits, a quick peek every 500 words. I find it much easier to type straight onto the computer but its not easy with the kids at home, thinking of doing masters next year, is it much harder than degree, coz to be honest I don't study that much. my boss has almost agreed to 15 hrs a week study and 15 hrs a week at work so that I can do masters in lass than year, am I mad?

codswallop · 11/08/2003 08:31

mears I can offer you the "anglo american special realationship in the light of the Falklands conflict."

If you dont cringe at my 23 year old verbosity!

mears · 11/08/2003 09:22

Yes you are metired! Actaully I think if you can blitz it in one year that would be good but it would be a lot of work. I get 3.75 hrs of study leave a week. I have done one module per semester (am on my third) and am planning doubling up so that I can get all 8 done in the next year and a half. Then, of course, there is a 20,000 word research dissertation on top of that. I am behing because I had problems with my manager a few months ago and ended up off sick 'stressed'. I got dispensation to put this assignment in in August. I have known about it for so long but here I am running at the last kick again! It's hard going with kids and a job as well. Why am I doing it ?
