Looks like it is all really going to be ahppening - and soon

We are due to exchange on the new house and on our apartment this week. Just waiting for some documents (on our side) to come through for that to go ahead. Nothing major to hold it up. And this time - it is us, not them!

And our new house is, according to the builders this afternoon, due to be completed on the 23rd September - with a move in date of the 30th!!! We were originally told 7th October.

That is less than 4 weeks away!!!

And we are at a ball on Thursday 29th! Mind, we may be ready for some nice time out. And it'll be handy having PILs staying over to help us next day.

Getting very giddy and excited now...but cautiously...

Good luck!Did you go for the 3 storey townhouse in the end I seem to remember someone did.I live in one and it is fab!

Hulababy · 05/09/2005 16:45

Yes, we did. It's a 3 bed 3 storey new build on the Sheffield/Derbyshire border. I can see cows from my window (or will be able to) rather than drunken students

Hulababy · 05/09/2005 16:54

Yeah! Mollie is planning her very own house waming party - for her own playhouse in the garden. Followed by a trip to our little playground we have on the site

Been to see house again today and from outside it is really coming on. Supposed to being finished on 23rd!!! They were laying the turf and doing the wall at the moment. Inside I could see the radiators were in, and electrics. Couldn't see anything else. And a couple of weeks ago the house builders asked if we'd be able to complete a week early on the 30th September! That's less than 3 weeks away!!!

So excited; ot os really coming on now and getting closer and closer.

Oh great stuff Hula, just make sure you do a thorough snagging check on them, I've found the hard way, that a fav of builders is to forget to put the waste drainage pipe on the bath properly! you find out a few months later, when you get a huge hole in the celing below....argh!

Hulababy · 12/09/2005 20:18

The snagging is due to take place on the Monday after the 23rd. Leaving DD with PILs and me and DH will go round very carefully with site manager. Have done it a couple of times in past, so getting good at it now

no, went over last week and the house is up, has a roof and windows, but they have about another 5-6 to build and then the road can go down. I spoke to a builder and he said they were ahead of schulde.

Hulababy · 12/09/2005 21:05

That's good then

It's all great and exciting isn't it? I have a massive list of stuff to buy!

Me too, I need a new toy box for dd2 as hers has broken. and a bed for DS. We are still sorting out all the rubbish.

Hulababy · 12/09/2005 21:12

We've got rid fof most stufff, and some we are not taking. Buying things like new pans and glasses new for new house - have delayed replacing stuff for that reason! And want to do DD's room a week or so after we move - a pink room is what she wants!

Hulababy · 12/09/2005 21:33

Me too, I have had enough now

Hulababy · 17/09/2005 21:14

Apparantly the NHBC (?) has been done now and the builders are awaiting the ocver note - due Wednesday, and we will then exchange. House is due to be finished on 23rd - next Friday. Went by today and the wall is almost up round garden but no turf laid yet. Inside we have no idea, although a friend went by (live same place) the other day and saw painters inside working. Out the front the garage door is now on, and the path/drive is down.

If all goes to plan we go and do the snagging next Monday, where we can also measure up for curtain poles, etc.

I now have loads of packing boxes here and have packed away all the CDs, DVDs and books. I have also bought lots of the bits we need - kitchen/bathroom accessories, stuff for DD;s bedroom, etc. Our new sofa bed is delivered next weeekend and DH's armchair arrives shortly.

We have booked the removal firm, arranged for BT and Sky to do their stuff.

Have a fair few more stuff to do and to buy though

It is less than 2 weeks away to our current moving day!!!
