We are considering booking a holiday abroad for October when my Ds will be 3 Mnths old. I am a bit wary because of the heat and the availibility of medical treatments in some countries. Has anyone any advice on resorts and any good tips? We also have a 4yr old dd. I would love to go but have a lot more reservations than dh.

hi collette, do you mind giving us a bit more to go on? are you thinking long haul or short? anywhere in europe should be fine from the medical perspective, but there are also long haul destinations which are surprisingly healthy and safe, e.g. cuba, parts of malaysia, morocco, the us (of course), s. africa...

Sorry I was a bit vague. We're thinking of a cheapo European if poss. Maybe I am being overcautious.

Canaries?

colette · 03/08/2003 22:16

I like the canaries but I am wondering if it would be a bit too hot for ds. We didn't go on hol with dd outside Britain until she was 3 and I don't want to leave it that long again

hi colette, the canaries wont be too hot in october i took dd to spain in august when she was 3 months and she was fine, dont worry is completely safe weather and health wise

We took DS1 to Portugal when he was 9 months, it was November a bit too cool for my liking and the Victor Meldrew brigade were out in force, but it may be nice in October and not to long a flight. We are taking DS1 (four) and DS2 (14 months) to Rhodes this year at the end of September, we're hoping it wont be too hot as they were having a heatwave the last time we were there (same time of year two years ago) but I think if it is too hot with a little one you can always just spend more time shopping and in cafes ! Go for it and have fun!

Thanks for your replies - I will go for it. The even bigger problem is my body

hi colette, agree with the suggestions here, canaries, the algarve, southern spain, cyprus would all be good. morocco and tunisia should also still be quite warm then and pretty healthy i think! have a great time.
