I have changed my name for this because the present is needed for a mumsnetter and I don't want her to guess! She very kindly sent me some things for free and I would like to send her a little something to say thank you, but really can't afford to spend anything much. I am quite arty/crafty so suggestions of homemade things would be good too.

Thank you!

a beautiful book mark would always go down well

Thanks jampots - any more ideas?

what about.... finding out how old her children are, and making her a picture for their bedroom wall?

jamiesam · 03/09/2005 00:06

Food, like fudge or truffles? (Actually, picture for kids bedroom wall sounds lovely - esp if you can add cheap but nice frame)

Really like the picture idea, might try that!

Don't think I could do food unfortunately, as I have to post the end result!

Little cardboard box? (for sweets that is, not the actual present)

Anyway, what sort of picture will it be

Cookies should post fine in a box. I once sent a squidgey brownie to a MNer and it (apparently) arrived OK.

You can buy a glass and then decorate it yourself with writing and pictures. That was done for me by the NCT when I left, they wrote a message on a tumbler followed by all their names, I still have it and treasure it.

Now there's an idea Rhubarb, I have a glass painting kit and some spare glasses (ie tumblers!) Maybe a picture for the child and a tumbler for the mum then - thanks for the ideas!

Jamiesam, I know the name of her child, so I thought I would maybe "Illustrate" it in some way. Will do some sketches and give it some thought.
