you are ok once you hear the thunder!!

KBear · 31/08/2005 21:12

We were camping a couple of weeks ago during an almighty storm - didn't wake me (I sleep through anything) but DH woke me up saying that perhaps we should get in the car or head for the toilet block!! Chicken! It was the crackliest electric storm and I did think ooh err!

Don't be scared, nowt to worry about

Libb · 31/08/2005 21:13

I would kill for some thunder right now, it is so close and DS is having none of it! Please just go to sleep darling . . .

QueenOfQuotes · 31/08/2005 21:13

I know - but when they had storms in Zim - the thunder and lightening used to be almost simultaneuos.......and they used to have little column in the (state) newspaper giving number of deaths from lightening strikes that rainy season - I got there in September (start of the season) and it was already on 32 - didn't exactly help calm the nerves....

oh i hate thunder and lightnening as well, scares me to death. Dp is in london until late tonight, so i'm all on my own with a puppy who has never heard thunder before and it has been forecast. really hoping it holds off until Dp gets home!

QueenOfQuotes · 31/08/2005 21:17

Well it's around Wellingborough (northants) now and it's getting closer - no rain yet (and I hope it holds off until DH gets home!) sounds like its coming from the South(ish) so you should be ok

No point in being frightened of thunder. All those people in the Zim paper you mention were deaths through lightning.

BLANKfloozypuddingandpie · 31/08/2005 21:22

I love thunderstorms!

QueenOfQuotes · 31/08/2005 21:26

Holy crp there's a bl*dy huge storm here now - right overhead - no TV signal so I can't drown it out and DH is going to be getting soaked

Would a loud MN round of the Tweenie "I hear thunder" song help?

QueenOfQuotes · 31/08/2005 21:28

no - but I guess at least if it does hit anything the school and the church are both taller than this house - and close by.......

That's the spirit

swiperfox · 31/08/2005 21:29

Awwww QOQ you'll be ok. Easy for me to say as I love a good storm. We had a bit of one here earlier but it was passed really quickly so if its coming from down south here it's only a little one

sorry missed your bloody huge storm post!

Just gotta add that I'm sh*t-scared of thunder, too! I thought it was thundering yesterday pm and toyed with the idea of phoning the school to tell dd she had to walk home on her own cos I was too scared to go out! Actually, the noise was just a council lorry loading their grass cutting machine on board so I was okay to fetch her as usual.
