If you have the "new style" plug-in master socket, you can do it yourself by buying a kit from B&Q or similar. Or you'll often find ads in the local paper for people who'll do it for you (ex BT engineers etc)

may have changed now, but when i worked for bt 5 years ago we used to advise people to find a local electrician or get one of the kits (which cost a couple of quid from wilko or b&q like soupy said). you can buy a double adaptor to plug into existing socket and then just run the wire to wherever you want it. it cost around £150 to have bt do it because it was the same amount of work as putting in a new phone line (which they got rental for) but they didnt make any extra out of it. afaik you can do it with most sockets

Think DH has done this. Will ask him when he's finished bathing DS

If it's new style the phone will "plug" in to a socket fixed to the wall.

You buy a kit plug in a double adapter, plugback in existing phone run cable to new area & plug in new phone...basically (or you can do a neat job with those little plastic hookas on nails and pin it all down)
