Really ticked off at friend

This is just a little corner to vent my frustration so please excuse!

Do you ever wish you had kept your big mouth shut? DH built a computer for one of our neighbours and friends (or was one at least.) It was a really tight budget so DH did his best and worked really hard to finish it, as this is his hobby he does it after work so not much time. Anyway they were just so ungrateful, constantly saying it wasn't working when truth was they don't know how to use one and had managed to download dozens of viruses.

Finally tonight, after the umpteenth moan, DH took it back saying we will give them their money back. Luckily DH has a good reputation and can sell it but it is money we can't afford. They seem to think that because DH works we are loaded but we are on less a week than they are with their benefits! I know because she was moaning about it one day and I kept quiet because I was thinking that if I had that amount clear in my hand each week I'd be a happy bunny.

I know we will get the money back as DH has already had a couple of his friends (who are computer literate) wanting computers off him. I was just trying to do someone a favour and now I wish I hadn't bothered! Of course tonight, when DH came back from their house with the computer (they moaned because we didn't give them games and films on it!!!) he shouted at me.

I have given her so much over the past few years and realise that yet again I've been taken for a mug. I am so sick and tired of it.

This may not make sense, I am not really bothered if it does as it is too late to phone anyone and I need a place to get rid of this anger as DH seems to think shouting at me helps!

Life is too short to keep some people as friends.

Computers + non-computer literate friends = big mistake

We have been there too (DH is IT Consultant and does favours for people/friends).

I really hate that people take advantage of his good nature, and yes I end up bearing the brunt when it goes horribly wrong.

You've been burned, Two. Been there, bought the tshirt. She sounds like a cow. I'd start keeping my distance from wasters like this. If she asks, just be busy. I know EXACTLY the type of person you're talking about, too, b/c I've known a few like this myself. My SIL has never worked - nor has her partner who'll be 40 in December - and ALL she can do is moan about how hard done by she is and how 'lucky' we are to have a car - she doesn't have money for driving lessons. Funny that, she has £35/week for fags for her and her partner. How 'lucky' we are to do stuff like go to the Zoo - 'they didn't have any tigers out when we were there', she moans. It's a f*&^ing ZOO, you low life chav!, not a circus act!

We keep contact w/her to a minimum. She tried to use DH as a personal taxi and of course, never compensate him for petrol. We're just never home when she calls .

Just drop the subject of the computer and move on! Onwards and upwards! You don't need leeches like this in life.

Thank God because I was feeling like a bitch for getting so angry but this is the first time in 9 years that a computer has come back. I am now thinking that they changed their mind and could think of no other way of getting rid of their computer and their money back.

They just spent £110 on getting tatooes done so not as skint as they make out.

Make it a lesson learnt, people seem to think that if you sell them a cheap pc with that they get 3 years worth of warraty, free of charge with phone helpline included.....

Bet they tried to flog it themselves and when they couldn't they groused until youse took it back and gave 'em their money.
