.........do you have to fill in holes in walls left by picture hooks and nails from shelves, pictures etc?

Yes you are supposed to repair any damage caused by fixtures and fittings that you have specified you will be taking.

Buuuut - the chances are most people will want to redecorate to their own taste, or hang a picture in the same place etc etc so i would be tempted to not worry about small things. If it were a great big eye sore then yes i'd try and touch it up a bit.

What condition is the rest of your house? and what do you think the buyers attitude would be?

Agree with Hattie but you could leave up any picture hooks.

I'd just leave the picture hooks, then person moving can choose whether to hang picture in same place, or touch up the hole if they don't want to.

In NZ you would be expected to leave fixed shelving - so I don't know about that.

When we moved we left picture hooks etc where they were but just also left the old tins of paint so that if they wanted to fill in the holes and paint over they could.

We moved in May, they took the bathroom mirror with light and left a massive hole with a wire hanging out of it in the bathroom. They took shelves down in the bedroom and kitchen and left massive holes in the wall. They also took the curtains from the fitted wardrobes that hide all the stuff in them. Bartewards!

We left the picture hooks and shelves etc up in the house we left as leaving holes, even filled holes, is pretty crap if you ask me!
