Lost shoes - how on earth to stop it????

My 14 month old is just starting to walk and has clarks first shoes. They are velcro fastening which he has already worked out how to undo. When in the pushchair, he often takes them off and we have actually lost one totally. This meant buying a whole new pair - urgh! Since then, we have tried to be really careful. If he is going in the pushchair, we tend to take them off his feet completely. He also takes his socks off, but these I am less worried about losing.

Then today, in the pouring rain, I forgot to take them off him and yes - he lost another one. We retraced our steps all over the west end of london in the rain - not fun, but to no avail. Luckily, we had kept the other of the last pair and we lucked out that it was the right one to make a new pair if you see what I mean! However, at £16 a pair, I am terrified of him losing one again!

What can I do???? I do try to remember to take them off him, but when we are out and about, sometimes he is in and out of the pushchair and it is not always practical. I did not have this at all with ds1 - he never took his shoes or socks off!

Maybe next time get lace ups and double knot them on, they will be a bit more hassle, but worth it if it stops him taking them off.

There were no lace up ones for first shoes. I think the idea is to make them soft and easy for babies so they did not have anything like that. I still have the first shoes from my first ds and they are boot type with lace ups. Clarks don't do them anymore and they are too big for ds2

Thats a real shame..I have no other ideas, but with the number of lost baby shoes you see on the streets I feel sorry for you!

could you write your mob number in permenant marker pen inside. so if lost you have more chance of reunited with them??

Thats a good idea. At least I have some hope of getting them back. Not sure what he would walk on in the meantime!

I onced picked up a teddy a little boy in his buggy had dropped on the bus, and his mum gave me the dirtiest, most suspicious look ever.
I was doing her a favour, and she was so absorbed in her phonecall she'd have never noticed.!
I'd do the same if I saw an abandoned shoe!
