ADs - coming off them after a year

I had been taking the antidepressant Citalopram for over a year now and after a long period of reducing the dosage to help "wean" me off I took my last pill on Saturday. I woke up this morning feeling quite dizzy and this sensation does not seem to be abating as the morning wears on. I feel quite disoriented, particularly when standing or walking, it's like being mildly drunk or being at sea. It's not a totally debilitating sensation, I can still hold a conversation and get on with my work and feel as coherent as usual it's only the physical sensation that is disconcerting.

My question is, has anybody else experienced these sensations when coming off ad's and if so how long did it last. If it's just a normal sympton then perhaps I should just ride it out for as long as I can. I can't bear the thought of going back to the GP and have him suggest I go back on the meds although I am sure it wouldn't come to this.

Any advice gratefully received.

It's a nightmare, isn't it? Poor you. I found when I was coming off antidepressants that using natural products helped. Evening primrose oil is good, as is St John's wort. But you do have to take them for a while to let the effect get into your system. They are much gentler than prescribed drugs.
