I was in a petrol garage today, when the man behind the till started miaowing really loudly in attempt to amuse my dd. He was so carried away with doing this that he didn't serve me for what seemed like an age and i had a long queue of people behind me who were not amused. DD was clinging to my leg and hiding! but none of this detered the man from doing really animated miaows. I smiled and chuckled politely and tried to point out i would like to pay for my petrol, but it just got soooo embarrassing!

As we walked back to the car dd said, "mummy what was the man doing?" I said he was being a cat wasn't he and she replied "no he's a man"

Oh bless the poor guy i do hope he doesn't read mumsnet

With my sis where she is atm (psych ward), I wasn't sure how to react to this post, but feel I was being a bit over-sensitive regarding the use of the term 'nutters', but - clearly this person was completely bonkers and I'd have been as mortified as you!

Believe me, I had my eyes opened visiting her tonight though and it's not easy to know how to react when you see a grown woman skipping down a ward or someone fondling a tap.

Aero - how's things today? Sis any better? Are you any better too?

fqueenzebra · 19/08/2005 00:25

I think a "nutter" is someone who acts crazy even though they aren't really!

QueenOfQuotes · 19/08/2005 00:25

OI! AERO - GET TO BED WOMAN!

Aero · 19/08/2005 00:26

no change as yet with sis jps, but I'm ok I guess - my heart weighs a ton, and I can't think straight, but I'm doing ok. Thanks

Aero · 19/08/2005 00:27

now really pmsl QoQ - I'm trying to go, keep getting sucked in though.

fqueenzebra · 19/08/2005 00:30

You're afraid that you'll worry about things if you go lie in bed, aren't you, Aero? I know what that's like, hanging on MN because you don't want to live with your own thoughts.

Hattie05 · 19/08/2005 00:31

Sorry Aero didn't mean to offend!

I work with people who have mental health problems and in no way would be putting them in the same category as this man he is one of a kind and the only one worthy of the title nutter

BTW, sorry to hear about your sister (havn't read any of your posts so don't know details) but sending you and her hugs!

That is very true fqz, but tonight I'm so tired that I truly believe my body will be kind to me and allow me to sleep.................I really must go to bed first though.
Lying down with my own thought two nights ago though was another matter - just horrible, but tonight, I will sleep because I know my sister is as safe as she can be where she is.

Aero · 19/08/2005 00:34

Hattie - you didn't offend - really - my senses are just heightened, that's all. lol Believe me, I need something to smile about atm!

fqueenzebra · 19/08/2005 00:34

Let your body's need for sleep take you away....

Aero · 19/08/2005 00:36
