Tea Room the Fourteenth

amberlight · 21/03/2010 18:09

Welcome to the 14th instalment of the Tea Room. It's now officially spring, and we've moved the tea room to a Gipsy caravan pulled by the tea room horses, which is making its way up the countryside in an effort to follow spring. There are of course hedgerows filled with spring flowers, Mellors the handsome gardener/driver/handyperson, the usual virtual Bishops, and the assorted animals and characters from previous tea rooms. All are very welcome to join in with us parents of one (or indeed more!) for general chat and the occasional very odd conversation. Climb aboard, grab a cuppa, enjoy the view, relax!...

I haven't spoken to her but I have spoken to the local massage therapist - she gave me some pretty useful info but what it honestly boils down to is this:

  1. finding someone who will insure me on my UK qualifications - I will not work without insurance
  2. deciding if I can really be bothered to rent a room and start again - especially as any clients I get won't be able to claim their costs back through their health insurance, because my UK quals are not recognised by the healthcare insurers
  3. trying to acquire the odd client through the playgroups and just work from home.
amberlight · 23/03/2010 15:21

I'd worry about acquiring odd clients. Just normal ones are bad enough, I find.

hey amber- the nmbs will soon cook that hedgepig for you. They have some clay all puddled and squidged ready, the have had great fun stamping and splashing.

nomoremagnolia · 23/03/2010 18:37

MT I have some news...have a look in conception

Jacksmama · 23/03/2010 20:10

If your hijack is happy news, nomoremagnolia, and means that you will be hanging out with us in the Tea Room, then don't apologize. Have no time to check but if congrats are in order, have some (non-alcoholic) Bolly!

I'm in the midst of a whacking crazy day at work. Busy busy busy. Which is good.

CMOTdibbler · 23/03/2010 20:42

Hello all, just popping in momentarily.

MT - it does get on my tits quite a lot at times. I was having a little sob on Sunday cos I didn't want to go away, and really didn't want to sit on a blooming plane again. But being actually here is nice (like it took half an hour to get very far into the office because of all the hugs). DS sent me an email, bless him

Back to work..

TrowelAndError · 23/03/2010 20:46

It gets on your tits from time to time?

Did someone mention Bolly?

UniS · 23/03/2010 22:14

nice tassels CMOT, that bra really suits you!
NOt sure you should wear it to a business meeting tho, at least, not with out a non see through blouse on top.

daisy99divine · 23/03/2010 22:36

God I love the tea room. From mortification of the flesh to tassle swirling bras via a little road kill and the PTA!!

Thank you for your kind words ladies, especially Amber

daisy99divine · 23/03/2010 22:36

Has anyone seen RacingPig???

UniS · 23/03/2010 22:48

I think he's hiding from the NMBs and the clay. Can;t say I blame him, hedge pig/ racing pig, easy mistake to make when your only 1 inch high.

You could try popping twiglets down the back of the sofa and see if they are still there in morning or not?

Its not conclusive proof ... the NMBs might have a taste for twiglets too.

Alphablocks... strange but effective, dicuss.

TrowelAndError · 23/03/2010 22:52

Wasn't that Racingpig sitting astride the hedgehog-shaped clay trophy and singing "Get Your Kicks On Route 66"?

Catitainahatita · 24/03/2010 00:48

I've just checked my first tearoom post. It was 1 Feb 09; the first tearoom. Wow.... it doesn't seem that long ago.

Oh and hello all. Sorry, i got a bit carried away there.

AandO: my reason for joining the tearoom was precisely because of feeling lonely and cut off from everyone over here. Now at least I hve some friends (and at least one trucker...)to moan at and sympathise with. It makes such a difference.

Speaking of such. I hope you are feeling a bit better Daisy. You sound ever so down.

daisy99divine · 24/03/2010 01:00

Awww thank you Catita. I am making a concerted effort to be more cheery this evening. Haven't you noticed? It's all twiglets and RacingPig in this end of town.... how are you and the wee Mexicettes?

Catitainahatita · 24/03/2010 01:21

Oops, sorry Daisy, I have only skim read the thread so far and had not really registered your cheery posts.

All us Mexicanettes and Mexicanos are currently sniffing with terrible colds

daisy99divine · 24/03/2010 01:24

oh bother Catita. Let me sent a lovely whisky and lemon your way

Catitainahatita · 24/03/2010 01:59

Damn, K. turned off the compu just as I was writing a long and involved post. I have to go and give him a bath just now.

So, I will return later and recount our current drug trafficker vs. army woes (shoot outs in the local shopping centre and the such like) later.

And thanks for the whisky and lemonn. Lovely. I think I might have a real one once K is asleep.

daisy99divine · 24/03/2010 03:33

OOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooo not only do you have a Cuddly Simon Schama and a Kittenito and a Gatita you have SHOOT OUTS!!!

Poor you. I hope its not to much No Country for Old Men.....

mistlethrush · 24/03/2010 08:45

Morning all - isn't the tearoom cosy when its all grey and gloomy outside - it doesn't seem to matter that much - but probably a good idea that we packed up and got underway relatively quickly.

I do seem to be spotting the odd small red footprint here and there....

Any one for a cup of tea or coffee and a bowl of porridge?

Catita - sounds rather ... my only two experiences of something not remotely in that league was the drugs raid on the house next door (we've moved since ) and having to evacuate the office as a very small bomb went off near the railway lines fairly near the big station not far from the offices.... Very tame in comparison.

I'm going to pop off and see if I can find Nomore - we were on a similar, but rather slower thread - and I think that she might fit in very well....

amberlight · 24/03/2010 09:19

Shoot-outs?

OP posts:
AandO · 24/03/2010 10:08

Morning all!

Was not in the tea room yesterday for fear of depressing everyone with my misery ...but feel much happier today. No particular reason I suppose, went to bed early last night for a change and for the first time in ages woke up refreshed...even if it was too LittleO holding up a potty of poo for me to dispose of !! Also I have only 4 months left of work, and we are planning to go travelling around Sept/Oct time as dh finishes uni, I finish my job (contract research, so contract due to end in summer) and LittleO still has one free year before he starts primary school so we thought we'd make the most of the situation. I'm very very very excited .

Glad you are feeling better Daisy, sorry I no advice to offer, I'm not too great at the whole wisdom thing.

MT - Phew, thought LittleO was the only child not invited to loads of parties, starting to fear we are passing our anti-socialness on to him.

Catita - !

Any luck with getting the stain out Mary?

Thumb - I guess using a room in your house might be best until you build up a decent sized client base?

Now that I know you have all been on ages I feel such a newbie...thank you for being so very welcoming .

AandO · 24/03/2010 10:10

Sorry that should read 'no expertise at all'!

mistlethrush · 24/03/2010 11:44

BTW, I hope no one minds, I've put up a general welcome on Nomore's thread with an invitation to pop by for a cup of tea - I hope if anyone is following that up that they'll sit down and have a cuppa and see how it goes before dismissing us as a bunch of madwomen!!!

Now that I look at them - some of the little footprints appear to be not red clay but sort of dust encased in stick - ah, I see the NMB have found a cinamon danish and are using it as a trampoline for bouncing off having jumped from the cupboard shelf.

Luckily there appear to be a plate load that are not in the optimal position for jumping off - anyone fancy one?

UniS · 24/03/2010 12:33

I'll have a Danish please.. and a sticky bun too. I think I can live with small NMB footprints.
I like teh tea room, tis a bit like meeting mates at pub and talking inconsequential dribble. which I also like doing.

Boy watching a DVD, and we are going SWIMMING this afternoon. I've worked it all out with what bus and when and all that, now to see if the plan works. Boy has been asking to go swimming, but its a bit tricky with no car to get there for a session that is suitable. Lessons are a non starter as the lesson for boy would be 4-4.30pm, bus to town would get us there at 2pm and we could come home on 6.30 bus as would miss the 4.30 return bus. I think not.
work is trickling in, got 2 more days booked yesterday. in Easter hols, so I shall have to pay for CM day but hey ho, tis paid work.

MaryBS · 24/03/2010 14:56

Thanks AandO for asking. The scorch mark is mostly gone, I'm just left with a small sooty stain about 1cm square...

Feeling pretty tired, but I guess I'd better pick up the sprog from school. Elder sprog has recorder group!
