Passport applications and abscent fathers

I am hoping to take my 3 year old away on holiday later this year. I am just not sure if I will be able to.

I am trying to apply for a passport for her, however it asks for details of her father etc. Her father is unknown as she was a complete accident as a result of a bad one night stand (please dont judge me). I have no idea who he is or where he is from. I dont get CSA payments or anything because I have no idea what his name is or where he lives or works.

Does anyone know if I can still get a passport for her?

Of course you can get a passport for your daughter! You won't have any trouble at all. (Presumably the space on your child's birth certificate where the father's name goes is blank.) You just need to take the original copy of the LONG FORM birth cert along with whatever else they want (photo's / witness etc)

Oh my gosh thank you so much, I have been really panicking about it. Thank you so much!

Feistymum - The documents you will need are listed here. As far as I can see, on a very quick reading, you don't need the father's birth certificate or permission (assuming that you were born in the UK and/or are a British citizen). There's an advice line you can call if you're unclear about anything.
