Tea room the Eighth - sun, sea, sangria, and perhaps a sandy Mellors

Greetings, welcome to the eighth incarnation of the tearoom.

The tearoom has been, and will be again, a virtual safe haven for anyone up for rather random chat and a comprehensive range of virtual snacks. Nothing in the tearoom will make you fat, or drunk (unless you want it to) or cause an allergic reaction.

The new tearoom location is a beautiful beachside cafe (no need for factor 50, the virtual sun will just lightly tan you, bring out your freckles or simply warm your skin, as you prefer) with a range of garden swings, hammocks, sunloungers, deckchairs etc (as well as a rather incongruous, but well-loved, chaise longue). For those in need of sanctuary, we have managed to fashion a new priesthole out of woven grasses.

Our fellow residents include Mellors the rugged gardener of few-but-well-chosen words, the naked mohawk babies, a coterie of bishops, various domestic pets, and a selection of others. On the human side, all are welcome - while we live in the One Child topic some regulars have more than one, and we are welcome all (except people who put their heads on one side and tell those of us with one child that it's just not fair to have only one child).

Please help yourself to a glass of Champagne and a canape on the way in ...

Blimey, have we all been out in the sun for the whole day?
Glass of virtual wine available for those interested.

CMOTdibbler · 24/05/2009 19:58

We had Ds's birthday party yesterday afternoon (15 children, mostly 3 and under plus parents) at softplay, and then 5 of them plus parents back to our for a bbq afterwards. And one child stayed. Paddling pool, garden breakfast, then pub lunch

I actually quite enjoyed it, and the children played beautifully, but it was nice when they all went away again.

Dh and I had one of those conversations this afternoon whilst DS was sleeping. This started as our friends who stayed overnight with their (adorable, conceived, gestated and born with no problem at all) DD are waiting for the husband to have a vasectomy. This led to a conversation about the irreversability of that, how you might change your mind over time etc etc. We both confessed to occasional wobbles over onliness (especially as the children had insisted on being in our car together, snuggled to sleep in the same bed, cuddled on my lap for stories). Strange convo really

Tea room wine will be lovely. I drank too much gin last night, and have to be up at euch o'clock tomorrow, so much as I want a RL glass, am having a pint of tea instead

teafortwo · 24/05/2009 20:00

Virtual wine - that is my favourite flavour, Amber....

My head is spinning - I should of kept my hat on and worn more suncream!

I also live just West of Paris....

amberlight · 24/05/2009 20:35

You live just West of Paris! Quick, you need a large butterfly net for catching him, and a box labelled to MadBad's address to put him in.

We seem to have a virtual Pinot Giggly-oh or a cheeky little Merlot on the go here, in a virtual way of course.

CMOt, oh no, not one of those conversations? Definitely wine for you then.

Gerard Depardieu and Tea are neighbours? Zut alors. I'm not sure he is my Mr Right. It's just that I've always admired his diction (yes really) and enjoy his films.

Commiserations, Cmot, over the wobble. We had a minor wibble the other day when MadBadBaby was adamant that she wanted a sister who actually lived with her (in contrast to her unofficial sisters who are scattered across the country). I did feel a bit [bleugh] as I explained that there were going to be no more babies (but, as I always say to her, there would be a 50:50 chance of any baby being a boy anyway). But we've had a lovely day today.

A fantastic selection of wines, Amber. May I please have some Pinot Giggly-o?

thumbwitch · 25/05/2009 00:20

No doubt I am too late for all of you again but will wave at everyone anyway.

CMOTD & MadBad - for your wibbles. DH and I both confessed today to wondering how the hell we would cope if(when?) we do have another cos miniThumb has been a bit manic since yesterday morning and had a shocking night last night - trying not to attribute it to his HibMenC vaccine that he had on Friday but last night was a stinker, so it might have been that

DH bought me a bottle of Pimms today - Pimms o'clock, anyone?

amberlight · 25/05/2009 06:44
CMOTdibbler · 25/05/2009 07:42

Thank you Amber, that is just what I need

On the upside of today, the motorway was totally, pleasurably empty on the way to the airport.

Downside - a lovely sunny day spent in airports/planes and a meeting. Gah.

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 25/05/2009 10:08

I don't do coffee but is there any hot chocolate on the go?

CMOTdibbler · 25/05/2009 11:09

Bloomin sunny and lovely here too. And I forgot to remove Dh's car seat from my car (as DS and friend both wanted to be in mine yesterday we plonked the seat for his car in also), DH is a bit limited in plans for today. Oops I think they will venture to the carnival, which last year was absolutely rain soaked.

teafortwo · 25/05/2009 12:23

aaaaawww - it is so sunny and lovely and summery and especially gorgous and great and I have to....

work.....

aaaawww booo hoo hoo...

Catitainahatita · 25/05/2009 14:52

I'll join you in the pretence Tea. There's no bank holiday here. Just business as usual.

Puts the kettle on and arranges lovely shortbread fingers on a plate (complete with doily) for those who feel like a nibble.

Jacksmama · 25/05/2009 15:36

Good morning all!
Just a quick hello. I have to get ready for yet another follow-up wth my surgeon. Hopefully she'll be pleased with my bits... but I've been having very dd belly pain for about a month and must mention that to her so feeling a bit .
Coffee anyone?

Jacksmama · 25/05/2009 15:37

That should read "very odd belly pain"... no DDs in sight, believe me...

Catitainahatita · 25/05/2009 15:49

Good luck with the check up JM, I hope your surgeon can set your mind at rest about the belly pain.

If you don't mind, I'll have a mug of tea rather than coffee.

Fancy a bit of shortbread to go with your coffee?

UniS · 25/05/2009 16:32

Unis pokes head round door, waves and then heads back to teh garden with a cool drink. I can be found under an apple tree on a blanket with a good book.
Have now read "First among sequels" by Mr Fforde, had to LOL when I recognised tehtea room in it. He has called it teh Paragon and claims its from a wodehouse book... But I recognised it straight away- thats our tea room.
Was scoring at cricket yesterday. Hurrah for boy who managed to play very well by him self for most of an innings. and with Dh for teh other innings.

Today we finished our "train" made of boxes. started last week, played with lots this morning. Complete with pretend coal and steam and pretend water tower.

scottishmummyofone · 25/05/2009 19:03

may I join?

my dd is 15 months.

DH would like another but I don't and won't back down lol

hello everyone

amberlight · 25/05/2009 20:11

Hello Scottishmummyofone, welcome on behalf of half of the current aspie contingent (namely me)

Cup of something, or would you like a glass of virtual wine/drinkies of your choice?

Well folks, I've tried rejoining in a small amount of mumsnet and even a debate, and the new strategies are working ok so far. Hooray! The knack is going to be to take it very steady, I think.

teafortwo · 25/05/2009 20:11

Certainly, Scottishmummyofone....

Let me put some music on....

www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd1iIqL6ijM

Here is a chair for you (sorry it is a little eaten by all the animals we have here), here is a glass of champagne (we guzzle it here).... and here is a a a a .... I know cushion too....

Nice to see you!

So what have you been doing on this glorious glorious day?

Donk · 25/05/2009 20:42

Carrot anyone?

I thought that I would pop by and see how you all are.

I hope that Jacksmama's bits are pronounced OK.
Sympathy for those who have had to work indoors in such lovely weather.

DS (and I) went to the Scout camp fun day yesterday. He really enjoyed running around like a loon with the other boys (and a few girls). The campfire sing song in the evening wasn't much to his taste - he said it was boring, and went off to entertain himself a bit further up the field.

On the antipodean front, my father had his last RT session yesterday, and can come off the steroids in another week . He is feeling very tired. Walking 1/4 mile yesterday was too much. Sad for one who is usually so active.

RacingSnake · 25/05/2009 21:01

Reading a book in day time ... I remember doing that. Love the sound of the train.

UniS · 25/05/2009 22:03

Reading a book in the day time in teh tea room you will notice. Today I was too busy with being a domestic goddess to read a book in RL.
I do manage it some days- if boy has a sleep or if he is happy with a DVD or his cars. Mostly I read in the evening, we don;t have a TV which will receive digital and our transmitter went digital last week. Haven't missed it yet as we watched very little TV any how. Must just pop off and print a refund form from the TV licence site...
