Hello and welcome to the seventh incarnation of the tearoom.

If you have found us by chance and/or curiousity you must know that the tearoom is a virtual safe haven for all those seeking a friendly word, a good cuppa and plenty to snack on. By virtue of its magic nature, no food can cause any physical damage, so chocolate, alcohol, transfat and all such can be consumed guilt- (and magically calorie-) free.

We have a wide range of soft-furnishing to relax on; a lovely garden with a swing and a ha ha; a variety of animals; a spa and (for some unknown reason) an apidistra.

Everyone is welcome, if you have one child, ten or none at all. We are a tolerant and fisticuffs-free zone. Instead we employ our energies swooning at Mellors the Gardner cum handiman thinking a silly things to get up to.

Please come in and say hello. You never know, you may end up joining us ...

vvvvvvvrooooooom...... eeeeeeek!!!!!

amber32002 · 26/04/2009 07:33

"Thank you Mr Bishop Your Eminence Your Grace Sir, we will most certainly be removing the car from the middle of your fine ornamental carp pond as soon as we can persuade Mellors to stop laughing and start hitching up Earl Grey to the said vehicle to give it a pull out!".

Tsk! Well I never! And they didn't even invite me along for the drive!!

Racingsnake · 26/04/2009 16:55

Tea, I want that book!!!

Jacksmama · 26/04/2009 17:36

I wasn't invited along for a ride either... I believe that gives me the right to stand at the edge of the Bishop's pond, point and laugh

Curried butternut squash soup with coconut milk, anyone?

Donk · 26/04/2009 20:53

The wet washing has dripped all over my hay pile - which has now gone mouldy!

I hope that you are pleased with yourselves...

Anyone got a cure for death (or at least stupefaction) from a thousand questions...

DS hasn't even been giving me a pause in which to answer today, and I'm exhausted...

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 26/04/2009 21:05

I haven't got a cure for death by a thousand questions! All I can say is that it gets a little easier when they can read and you can shove a book towards them that will explain how planes fly, why flowers smell and so on!

Galvanised bucket of tea for you, Donk?

CMOTdibbler · 26/04/2009 21:08

Do you want an exchange scheme Donk ? If youd like to pontificate on the finer points of diesel engines vs steam, and just how they work, I'll take on your DS's questions

Lemonade sounds lovely.

I must go and pack my suitcase in a minute. For better or worse the Helsinki office have a very relaxed dress code, but my mental packing list doesn't fit with that, so I have to contemplate the wardrobe a little more.

But this time next week we shall be in a cottage in Cornwall for the week which will be blissfull

Donk · 26/04/2009 21:15

MadBad, Tea sounds blissful!

CMOT - the exchange scheme sounds good - I could take them to the Railway museum to examine the engines in detail...

(I got very strange looks from passers by last time I went when I was standing with DS next to one of the static engines which was being demonstrated, explaining in far too much detail what was going on.... because he wanted to know)

mistlethrush · 26/04/2009 23:05

Evening all!

I've also done rather too much gardening - removed a dead evergreen (one of the relatively small ones - was probably about 7' before it got bits cut off) - on a 'rockery' - dh was persuaded to help me get the main tree bit out this morning, but I've been battling with the remaining roots and trying to move the higher level bits to a better height - going to plant some fruit bushes there very soon...

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 26/04/2009 23:13

'Tis verily the season for gardening, hey nonny nonny.

Drinkie?

daisy99divine · 26/04/2009 23:49

Sorry to miss such a busy night last night!

Look who I had to spring from the local bobbies today! They said Tea had form so I had to raid the honesty box to provide bail for Tea... we may have to top it up a bit

she seems ok, though, I think the fascinator looks quite good with the stripey uniform don't you

We had a great time camping, broke down so ended up in forest near Tunbridge Wells rather than the planned coast, but it was top and Daisyboy loved the camp fire and the camping

Never been to Coram Field MadBad, where is it, what is it, sounds intriguing??

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 27/04/2009 00:06

Hi Daisy! Good job that someone around here knows their way around the law, eh, teafortwo?
Coram's Field is seven acres of child heaven in Bloomsbury - swings, climbing frames, animals (including several of racingpig's cousins), ice cream. What more could you or daisyboy want?

I am in deep admiration of anyone who goes camping in April!

Jacksmama · 27/04/2009 01:35

Butterscotch cake with white chocolate icing, anyone?

Must i drink this all by my lonesome, then? Tut, tut.

CMOTdibbler · 27/04/2009 08:24

Morning All !

Was it Ashdown Forest Daisy ? We used to live in East Grinstead, and I was booked to give birth at the mw led unit right in the forest (of course DS couldn't wait for that)

Donk - we too are guilty of too much detail. DS is perfectly happy with this, but the answer to 'why is that rock sparkly' took DH some time

mistlethrush · 27/04/2009 09:06

Morning!

Horrid and wet here - and rather cold compared to the weekend. Fortifying myself with some hot tea....

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 27/04/2009 09:28

Yes, drizzly here too.

Toast and honey with the tea, perhaps?

mistlethrush · 27/04/2009 09:33

That would be good. On diet in RL, so will be relying on Tearoom to keep me going!

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 27/04/2009 09:40

Salute to you, Mistle, for the diet! If it works, please share the secret of your success.

Here, a lovely silver toast rack (which turned up during the move) filled with warm toast, a charming antique dish filled with delicious butter and a pot of unctuous honey. Enjoy!

mistlethrush · 27/04/2009 09:41
daisy99divine · 27/04/2009 10:55

Yes, CMOT, Ashdown forest it was. lovely

Nearly as lovely as the tea and toast and toast rack.... yummers!

Will have to check out Coram Fields

Can I snaffle a little of your lovely cake too please JM?

Lol at the too much detail. DaisyBoy was cross eyed by the time DaisyDad had finished explaining why stinging nettles were "ow-ey"!

mistlethrush · 27/04/2009 11:10

Daisy - MJ is more interested in eating them!!! One track mind or what...

daisy99divine · 27/04/2009 11:38

sounds painful!

mistlethrush · 27/04/2009 11:58

Wasn't it Racing that had a really interesting dinner party including nettles earlier this year?
