Hello and welcome to the seventh incarnation of the tearoom.

If you have found us by chance and/or curiousity you must know that the tearoom is a virtual safe haven for all those seeking a friendly word, a good cuppa and plenty to snack on. By virtue of its magic nature, no food can cause any physical damage, so chocolate, alcohol, transfat and all such can be consumed guilt- (and magically calorie-) free.

We have a wide range of soft-furnishing to relax on; a lovely garden with a swing and a ha ha; a variety of animals; a spa and (for some unknown reason) an apidistra.

Everyone is welcome, if you have one child, ten or none at all. We are a tolerant and fisticuffs-free zone. Instead we employ our energies swooning at Mellors the Gardner cum handiman thinking a silly things to get up to.

Please come in and say hello. You never know, you may end up joining us ...

I love your idea tea!! More Bolly?

Donk · 05/05/2009 21:33

Mind you, the tea was nearly cold after waiting for the page to reload. Is it me or is MN S-L-O---W tonight?

Night all

Donk · 05/05/2009 21:35

S L O -- W

I'll get the hang of formatting one day....

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 05/05/2009 21:55

Come in, racingsnake, and have some Bolly. Or a g&t.

Racingsnake · 05/05/2009 22:11

A soupcon of G&T would be very acceptable, but I'll have to take it to bed with me as it is school tomorrow and DD is being brought in as a visual aid for my French/geography lesson. Need extra sleep to be strong enough for that!

I popped back because I suddenly remember I do have something to say - everyone must watch Azur et Asnar, a film by Michel Ocelot out on DVD and rentable from LoveFilm. It is wonderful and can be watched in French or English. Must go now or would link to clip for you. Brilliant. A sort of animated fairy tale, but much much better than Disney.

MadBad - have you thought of getting a soundcard for your computer? I keep wanting to share a video and realising that you can't hear it!

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 05/05/2009 22:18

Well, racingsnake, here's a tumbler of gin with a soupcon of tonic. Is that the sort of thing you had in mind?

Am at Wriggle being used as a visual aid. Bonne chance! Allez-y!

And this PC probably does have a sound card but, as it's not properly installed yet, it's not attached to its speakers. Will research that film tomorrow.

Night, night everyone.

thumbwitch · 05/05/2009 22:55

oh have you all gone already?
I'm sure Daisy will be along shortly and no doubt JM is still around.

I quite liked Manolito too - always preferred the dark to the light, me. My first major crush was Tom Selleck as Magnum PI though! Such twinkly eyes.

I doubt I'll be on long tonight - still suffering the after-effects of last night - thank goodness miniThumb decided to go to sleep in his cot tonight !

DontCallMeBaby · 05/05/2009 23:02

Before I retire (having failed AGAIN to get an early night) I'll bring you this (not made by me, btw, although she is a friend, and a mother of one), and also this (zoom in) which I don't expect to replace the fascinators any time soon, but tickled me nonetheless.

Oh, speaking of fascinators, I ordered a new pair of Mary Janes yesterday! Dr Marten Mels, in vintage red. Mm-mm.

We could have minature pigs in an Eglu here, couldn't we? Teeny weeny Gloucester Old Spots, they'd be adorable, and we wouldn't make them into teeny weeny bacon sandwiches, oh no.

daisy99divine · 05/05/2009 23:09

Hello yes here I am

Sorry, but fancying William Shatner? I thikn that is a step too far even in the tea room - did you like him in CHIPS???
opps, sorry Amber for thumping on your head

Please post the photos of Sutton Hoo as a cake and Wriggle as a teaching aid - I am filled with excellent mental images!

thumbwitch · 05/05/2009 23:09

we could have an eglu that has similar proportion properties as the ninky nonk - i.e. it expands to fit whatever is in it whilst externally remaining really quite small.

daisy99divine · 05/05/2009 23:12

Oh heck!! it was the wrong bottle

Hang on I'm going to have to get Mellors to help me heard the 6 foot pigs out of the tearoom!

DontCallMeBaby · 05/05/2009 23:23

Sutton Hoo cake

I think that should work.

daisy99divine · 05/05/2009 23:27

ha ha ha - have you seen "Templeton" number 119 or 130 (few cakes on from Sutton Hoo) what on earth makes that a great kids cake???

meelorsthegardenerofsorts · 05/05/2009 23:30

Well, this was not the sort of evening I were expecting

with a deft flick of his wrist Mellors picks one large 6 foot pig up and tosses it over his shoulder. Strides out of tea room

Returns, repeats feat with second pig

Returns, tosses a log on the fire and a grin at the ladies>

Right, let's hope the potion wears off overnight....

bison · 05/05/2009 23:32

oh crikey moses. The pigs. They have grown. They are bigger than me...

I must scarper

nakedmowhawkbaby · 05/05/2009 23:38

Come on lads!

racinpiglovestwiglets · 05/05/2009 23:41

With a little piggy sigh, Racing turns to the twiglets. THen, from the corner of his eye he spies the ladle, trampoline and car spring contraption.

A little thought bubble starts to form>

Heh, RacingMrsPiggy - come here, I think there is somehting you need to see!....

amber32002 · 06/05/2009 06:59

Not absolutely sure how much longer I'm going to be able to be on mumsnet, so thought I'd say a hello and get a quiet cup of tea in the priest hole, if that's ok

DontCallMeBaby · 06/05/2009 08:03

Good morning Amber.

I've stuck some LRFs (little rubber feet) to the bottom of the mug.

teafortwo · 06/05/2009 08:49

Amber - but who else would be around to do all the things I am really bad at doing if you leave????

  • You know I neeeeeeeeeeeed you!!!!
amber32002 · 06/05/2009 08:49

That would explain why it's just headed off in the direction of the Tea Room Sauna

Thank you muchly

mistlethrush · 06/05/2009 09:11

Amber you are needed muchly here! Goodness knows what would happen if you don't pop in regularly, or hole up in the priest hole. Can you imagine what the NMBs would get up to with Donk's hay pile or the stacks of unwashed cups if they didn't know that you're keeping an eye on them? And as for the bison... well.....

Can you put some blinkers on and stay on the straight and narrow in the tea room? (Mind you, I'm not really sure that you can call the tearoom either straight (think of all the side tracks) or narrow (I wouldn't be able to fit in for one ) or a couple of other places. I know that your 'day in the life' writing has really opened some people's eyes and hopefully helped them understand things a bit better - I certainly find them fascinating and hope that it would help how I would interact with someone with similar issues (at a distance until invited closer for one thing!)

I had a and yesterday when dh rang me up to tell me about the show I was doing - had forgotten and not discussed recipes with the host. But it turned out well - cramming people into the room, and the host will get masses of stuff for peanuts as it went so well. I like shows like that! Did mean that I got back a bit late - so didn't get up on time - so we were a bit late to the school run and got stuck in the traffic - luckily MJ was not sick enroute, but announced that he was hugry when we were nearly there - not something that I could address at that point!

amber32002 · 06/05/2009 09:22

But suppose people with LFA children really do think that my presence on mumsnet makes their lives worse? That would be awful. I don't know how to resolve it.
