Tea room the 5th - welcome to the yurt

Welcome to the tea room. A warm welcome to everyone, whether you have one child, none, or ten. This is a tea-and-muffin or booze-and-sofasorcanapees sanctuary for all. But certain standards of behaviour continue to apply - anyone engaging in fisticuffs will be ejected by George Clooney, ably assisted by Mellors the Gardener.

You have found us- did you like teh slide/ bridge over teh HaHa. Teh priest hole is still available, its just over there.

Mellors and I have erected the yurt, strewn rugs around and good a good fire going in the wood burner. The place is feeling toasty and warm with not a draft to be felt. The kettle is now singing away on the hob. selection of teas for all taste on the shelf along with the hand made by potters mugs. Mellors very ably fitted teh yurt window with a window sill onto which can be placed a selection of pot plants and george.

Can someone sort out RP ( who I think came over with the sofa) and plump up the hay pile for donk.

done my list by the way

daisy99divine · 27/02/2009 01:17

Daisy stokes the fire, banks it, sets the bread to prove in the Aga, makes a cup of camomile tea with Manuka honey in it and snuggles under a pile of fleecy warm blankets watching the glowing embers of the fire in a peaceful sort of way....

night all

Jacksmama · 27/02/2009 01:38

Done my list - LOL! Daisy - Sir Ian McKellen!!! WOW!!!

Catitainahatita · 27/02/2009 04:05

Night all, have just come in for a wee drink and a laugh, seeing as my DS has been puking for Mexico since I got back from work this afternoon. He had his polio vaccination this morning which I think might explain it.

Thought about [gasp!] opening a thread about it [have never been so daring in the 2 years I've been lurking round here]. But I think I am just going for a bath and bed [extremely knackered emoticon]

DS seems lots better now (and is asleep, hurray!): he had a glass of water at 7pm and a bottle of milk at 9. (and no puke so far! double hurray!) But if he's still queasy in the morning we'll be at the Drs.

Also did my 5 random facts. Zazan what on earth do you do for a living? Are you in MI6???

Night all!

cmotdibbler · 27/02/2009 08:38

DCMB - I don't think we live that far apart, as I think you have mentioned that you go to the giant Waitrose/John Lewis Home, that we drive past the racecourse to get to.

Donk - any news ?

Will go and try and think of 5 interesting random facts about myself.

mistlethrush · 27/02/2009 10:01

Added my 5...

Cat - I hope ds is a bit better today. The best advice I can give you is TOWELS. They are fantastic when you're looking after poorly small people. You wrap dc up in a towel on top of vest or something - then remove and replace with another as and when appropriate. Yes, you do end up with a lot of disgusting towels, but its so much easier than having to wash and change the child each time...

The nmbs have been rather quiet last night - do you think that they are plotting something? Does Mellors need to be on guard or bring his butterfly net from the shed just in case?

Amber - how is Mr Amber doing - still behaving himself I hope.

amber32002 · 27/02/2009 10:43

Mr Amber is behaving himself beautifully, thank goodness.

We're off for a not-very-wild-whilst-he's-recovering weekend in the Cotswolds to get some rest/do some birdwatching/investigate the local pubs. Should be good. Suspect this means I ought to be packing rather than mn-ing. Drat. May be able to get online over the weekend depending on the connection - otherwise see you all in a couple of days

nakedmowhawkbaby · 27/02/2009 10:54

What was that we had to swerve round boys??? oh ho, it was Amber. Drat. Do you think she has seen us?

OK, let's go!

mellorsthegardenerofsorts · 27/02/2009 10:57

What is that noise I hear? There is a strange drumming sound ....

Come here you little blighters!

That Naked Baby pyramid looks like it's starting to totter and fall!

mistlethrush · 27/02/2009 11:03

THey are definitely related to the NacMcFeegles aren't they! Wouldn't think that they had sufficient strength to lift that up and carry it along. Its a bit like ants really. I wonder where they're taking it?

Amber - have a good weekend - but haven't you mastered the 'pack in 30mins' technique yet? Usually goes something like... Count the number of days, find appropriate numbers of appropriate sized underwear for travelling party, and similar number of tops, extra pair of trousers for everyone, double the quantity of ds's clothes and add a few for good luck. Check that everyone has shoes on and wellies packed. Find the dog harness, dog food and dog bed. Throw everything in the car. Desperately search for the travel sickness pills that were on that shelf last time you looked.....

nakedmowhawkbaby · 27/02/2009 11:05

wow wow steady boys!! keep that pyramid strong!

daisy99divine · 27/02/2009 11:16

Morning all!
I have been back looking at the lists, it is strangely addictive isn't it? And RS you are right, you sort of know more about each other straight away!

I have to confess I am now a little wary of Zazen. I would have stepped over her much more carefully when she was wrapped in the rug had I known!

I have also been worrying about the 5 I chose - what does it say about me? I think perhaps I should not have put I like to have my back scratched, it sounds a little odd but then the next one I thought of was that I am slightly afraid of self service cafeterias which possibly sounds even odder

Coffee and biscuit anyone? Here is the lovely bread out of the Aga too, I fancy a slice with apricot jam

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 27/02/2009 12:00

One of my five could easily have been that my favourite fruit is apricots, so I'll certainly have some bread and jam, thank you Daisy.

Another of mine could have been that I have never taken hallucinogenic drugs, unlike (I'm beginning to think) some of those contributing to this thread, who seem to have been partaking of the mushrooms growing down beyond the haha. Or is it me? Perhaps there really is a pyramid of naked mohawk babies clambering over a galvanised bucket full of chocolate-dipped carrots. Perhaps that really is Jeremy Clarkson outside, pondering how to add fuel injection to the scurry carriage.

daisy99divine · 27/02/2009 12:02

It's quite troubling, isn't it

Maybe one of my 5 could be "spends too much time worrying about Naked Mowhawk Babies" but then that would certainly be a bit

Hells bells, isn't that them swarming over the haha and heading for the Bishop's Palace?

mistlethrush · 27/02/2009 14:13

Do you think that we should warn the Bishops?

Yes, I agree, most people's were a bit tame compared to Zazen's

Apricot jam - is it homemade bread? Sounds delicious, yes please. Anyone want another cup of tea?

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 27/02/2009 14:50

In response to Zazen (and a feeble attempt at oneupmanship) I could say that I know how to kill a person with a matchbox. But I won't.

I think we can let the Bishops deal with the naked mohawk babies however they think best: locking them in the vestry? swatting them with a crozier? sending them to sleep with a sermon?

Yes please to tea.

Donk · 27/02/2009 15:23

Hi - just dropping in for a quick bucket of tea before picking up DS from school.

Still no more news - Dad is now on the emergency list for tomorrow/Saturday/tonight (depending on time zone!)
This time difference is doing my head in. Dad is 11 hours ahead, his sister is 9 hours behind us. AAAAaaagh!

mistlethrush · 27/02/2009 15:27

I do hope that it happens this time Donk.

Would you like some chocolate covered rose petals alongside your bucket of tea?

Jacksmama · 27/02/2009 15:28

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was and strangely fascinated by zazen's list. I'd really like to know more now...

I also have never taken hallucinogenic drugs. If we can discount the lovely Percocet haze from a few weeks ago...

My thoughts on drugs were always

  • if I have to inject it, I don't want to do it
  • if I have to smoke it and ruin my lungs, no thanks
  • if I have to snort it and make both my brain and my nose bleed, get away with it

That pretty much leaves booze.

Speaking of which... what's on tap tonight?

BTW, I personally think we should leave the naked mohawk babies to swarm the Bishops' Palace... I've always wanted to see a Bishop's patience tested!!

MadBadandDangerousToKnow · 27/02/2009 15:30
thumbwitch · 27/02/2009 16:42

typical innit - I have to go to bed early cos it's the only way to persuade DS to sleep, and you lot are on here until the wee sma' hours!

Daisy - thanks for the lovely thought - I will be still MNing from Down Under, I'm sure, although timing will be more tricky of course.

Donk - hope they manage to operate this time around - the time difference is a PITA, isn't it? DH had to phone his mum last night cos it is her birthday today and he couldn't remember whether they were 9 or 11 hours ahead (we worked it out from first principles, as it were, that she would be 11 hours ahead)

right, am off to read facts list and think of something appropriate...

Donk · 27/02/2009 16:46

MBTDK - that sounds positively decadent! And very calming.

I have just come upstairs to recover from a(nother) Lego incident - DS had strewn his boxes of it all over the floor, and I went flying trying to navigate passage.

I managed not to swear [proud emoticon] - and helped him to tidy up the resultant mess.

For heaven's sake don't let the NMBs near any Lego - the resultant mayhem doesn't bear thinking about!

Catitainahatita · 27/02/2009 17:08

Mistle Remember that the tearoom/yurt is a magical place. I think you could reasonable stuff yourself with chocolate here and suffer no side-effects.

..That's if you can wrestle the buttons off our resident NMB armed with tiny tomahawks and lots of attitude.

That means you nmb!

thumbwitch · 27/02/2009 17:17

whoops, got too carried away with my facts - meant to have my number 5 as I have a bar a day habit for G&B milk and almond chocolate.
