T42 - Rushes out to buy a pair of Mary Janes - it is incredible how different our lives are from parents with more children!!! Thank goodness for this topic! One of my bestfriends, who has two children, has never needed to buy a fancy hat, facinator or Mary Janes but; to be fair, he doesn't often 'get dressed up' like that anyway!

Mid-heel, platform or flat? Mid-heel, as once I have dropped my only child at school I can fill my days with shopping and leisurely lunches with my friends. I therefore spurn the practicality of flat shoes (and as an older mummy I am too ancient to cope with platforms, so they're out too).

Bellavita - There was a bit of a joke during the campaining thread that there was a strong possibilty if a 'one child family' thread was set up it would just be used by teafortwo and Squeaver to chat about hats. It would be called 'importance of choosing hats over fascinators if you only have one child'
