My son doesn’t want me around

My son wants to do everything with his dad, and it’s starting to feel overwhelming and extreme. It really hurts, and I can’t shake the fear that I’m slowly being pushed out and might soon be completely shut out.

How old is he? I think most little boys go through a stage of hero worshipping their fathers, its just a stage .

My DS changed about age 10. After being his default parent his whole life I was suddenly relegated to the background. He's obsessed with his father - now 13.

It's the way it is. He loves me, it's not personal, but I won't lie, it pisses me off after being the one to step back from career & spend endless hours / years sitting around therapies, playgrounds, playgroup etc. while his father built his career & lived his life. My time again I'd not sacrifice do much.

I was just coming on to say is he ten because that’s what I’m having at the minute too. It does actually really hurt even if it is a normal stage of development.

My ds is like this. Don’t worry, just be there steadfast. Talk to your dh and make sure he creates space for you
