Just that really

I can't stop feeling bitter that my ex left the relationship. We co parent well, however I just grieve the family we never had

I really understand this, and felt the same when my kids were small, I was so resentful that I couldn't give them a 'normal' family. I felt they lost out socially when other families were making arrangements with eachother.

Nothing stays the same though, and although I can't get that time back, I have remarried someone they adore and they're now adults.

You're looking at this from today's perspective but if you're open to it, life changes all the time.
