Looking for opinions... my husband met a woman almost 16 years ago, she said she was on the pill and 6 weeks later boom she was pregnant with their son.
They have always used the online calculator for child maintenance and he has always paid what is required and in a lot of ways additional. For example, buys him clothes, pays for school lunches on top of what he pays his mother, holidays, the list goes on, he is a fantastic committed parent. Does all the driving to transport their child too and from houses.
The mother is aware my husband has done well in his career and keeps coming for more money. Is this ok? She effectively chose him as a sperm donor. Her recent words were "I have 3 more years of this and need to make the most of it.
I agree he should pay for his son, but feels a little unfair she is monopolising on his career considering she could have ultimately chosen someone with far less income to provide her with a child.
We have 2 daughters and only just fall into the gap where we receive no child maintenance, no free preschool hours and no 20% tax relief on childcare which is based on one earner. This unfortunately prices me out of working. I feel this is an unfair system.
