I was a single mum for 5 years to my daughter because things didn't work out with her dad, I met my now-fiancé when she was five. They get along well and she never had any problems with him. Me and my fiancé are thinking of trying for another child (likely after we get married in August).

Go for it, if everyone is happy. I've got 11 year age gap was also a single parent for 6 of those years together 5 when we had ours. The baby is doted on by my first.

My sister has a 7 year age gap with her 2 and it was the best thing she ever did!
the 7 year old was the absolute best sibling and help to my sister from the very moment new baby arrived.
Now, 8 years on? Still the best thing to ever happen for them 😊
