Anyone else have an only child starting school?

I'm sad that my DD starting school means I'm permanently moving on from the toddler life of low key weekday meetups, and realistically I'm probably going to lose touch with some friends now that DD and I won't be around in the week.

It'd be better if I knew more mums of onlys but nearly all my friends, as well as most parents at school, have a younger child too so aren't going through the same thing. I feel like the odd one out. Really want to make friends with school mums but worried it's going to be hard as they will be hanging out with their babies. A lot seem to know each other already too and I've always lacked confidence starting new relationships.

Anyone else having similar experiences?

My only child starts school next week and I'm also having those pangs of sadness. I've been a sahm since he was born and have enjoyed our time together and yes those low key weekday meet ups.
It's hard knowing we're going into a 'new chapter' but I hope once he settles in and makes new friends we will make new friends as mums too.

My son is an only who started school this week. I'm feeling the opposite if it helps? There seems to be a really lovely sense of community and inclusion already.

Good to hear your positive experience. DD's first half day was yesterday and it was reassuringly fine, we both did well! Definitely motivated now to just keep being friendly and leave behind my preconceptions about the other parents.
