Movicol

Hi - first post 👋🏼
I’ve read several threads about Movicol so forgive if already answered . I’ve used it for a week x 3 per day and not much movement - but noticed really foul smelling farts (sorry 😒) for the full week after stopping. Still have this and now pencil thin stool. Would this all be result of the Movicol ? I plan to leave off the Movicol to see if this settles and then try again with bigger doses. I have IBS and always constipated, very slow transit which makes me thing the Movicol is just sitting in my bowel causing this 🙃

you might well need a bigger dose. you are supposed to keep upping it until it works. so 2 sachets then 4 etc. It will be a bloodbath when it hits though but that is what we have to do for our 16 yr old.

Also you might need something to improve your gut motility such as erythromycin. Do you have a gastro specialist to talk to ?

No I've had IBS whole life and usually manageable

Trying to revive this thread to see if you have any resolution @RosesWhisper I am suffering similarly with Movicol and not getting much help from GP

@Thighdentitycrisis Hi sorry just seeing this - eventually stopped when Movicol was out my system - so I don’t take it anymore, so I guess this was the cause .
IBS now under better control with Chia seeds - no longer taking any laxative
