Friendships

Does anyone else's child struggle to make friends ? My dd is eight and is really shy and finds it hard to make friends. Her best friend from school moved away to a new town last year and although they keep in touch via FaceTime and see each other occasionally it's hard. She started a new school just before lockdown and only had a chance to make one friend but she gets terribly upset that she doesn't have friends.

Hi. Does your daughter attend regular classes like swimming (before lockdown). What is your friendship group like? Any friends which have kids that your DC knows?

Poor thing, it could just be really bad timing rather than her not being good at making friends. It's hard when you don't have established friendships, keeping in touch online only is hard enough but forging new friendships without face to face interaction is even harder.
