No income : coronavirus

I work but have been forced to stay home with my child due to the school closures. My childminder has told me she can't take said child because I am not a keyworker.

If I can't work, I have no income and the government haven't released any funds for people in my position. I am scared and angry as it is out of my hands and I do not want to be in debt. Why isn't there a media outlet asking Boris and Nicola to clarify if there will be any help for parents unable to work due to lack of childcare through the covid shut down? There is help for those who have been forced out of work due to their company having to close so why not us? Confused

@sugarrosepetal.. that's a really good point. There needs to be something. Maybe try HMRC. Good luck x

You can claim universal credit for this time. This has been made quite clear.

I am already on working tax credit

I’d recommend switching to universal credit, it’s been a life saver for us before, and you can claim your first payment ASAP. It works differently to tax credits as it bases your payment on current income as a pose to what you earnt last year, so no earnings = full universal credit. Hope you can sort it

Thank You. I'm just worried I'll be left with nothing until they sort it out
