You stay in a hotel overnight with your child (age 5) and it's their bedtime? We are visiting some friends at the end of month and staying in a lovely hotel. We have a family room, but our daughter goes to bed at 7... do you just sit in pitch black lol?

No. It's a special occasion so bedtime goes to the wall. They stay up and have fun.

When I go away it is just me and ds. I watch TV on my tablet with headphones on when it is his bed time. I also don't and read, have a cup of tea. Also my ds doesn't go to sleep very early so it works out ok for us. But I guess it is different if there are two adults.

Bookaholic73 · 07/05/2019 17:34

Same as singlenotsingle it’s a holiday, the kids don’t have bedtimes.

AlexaShutUp · 07/05/2019 17:37

No bedtimes on holiday.

Ploppymoodypants · 07/05/2019 17:38

Same as bookaholic. Sometimes abroad when she was v young we put DD to bed and then sat on balcony drinking wine. But mostly she either slept in pushchair (which converted to a pram/carry cot bed) if we were out. Or she stayed up and joined in the fun.

DerbyRacer · 07/05/2019 17:39

Sorry for typo in my previous post. My ds goes to bed around 10am when we are away.

DerbyRacer · 07/05/2019 17:41

I give up! I meant 10pm. Am going to go now. Can't type

Bookaholic73 · 07/05/2019 17:43

Derby 😂

Emma40fornow · 07/05/2019 17:45

We had a soft light on and then when she was asleep put more lights on didn't wake up and we had the TV on low tooSmile

BlueMerchant · 07/05/2019 17:49

Often felt like sitting in the pitch black when my two DC were little and were super excited about staying in a hotel and chattering, jumping on the beds and hanging off the curtains (only kiddingHmm) but we didn't do bedtimes when away from home.

Ex28 · 09/05/2019 21:54

If it’s just me and DS then I’ll go to bed when he does but if OH is there then DS usually ends up sitting up with us.

ritzbiscuits · 09/05/2019 21:58

My 5 yo would definitely stay up later, I'd aim to get him to bed around 9ish. He sleeps with a light on so I'd be more than happy to chill in bed with a book/Netflix (with headphones)
