Ds4 is bored already and it's only 1 week in!! Anyone else's child the same, not many children for him to play with and I feel so guilty that he's stuck with me all day

How are you getting on OP?

My DS is 4 and we were lucky to be away for the first two weeks so that helped. This coming week he is doing a swimming lesson each day (is this am option - there may be space at your local pool) or just go swimming together.

I know what you mean - we don't have other kids to meet up with and DS starts school this year so no school friends yet.

I find that if I do something with him each day e.g. trip to the park/library/swimming/baking at home then he will happily amuse himself for a bit after.

I hope you enjoy the holidays!

If it's any consolation, my DD (10) was moaning about being bored the other day, & she's got siblings to play with. She's a bit older though, so I threatened her with giving her a list of chores to do if she couldn't find a way of keeping herself entertained.Grin

Your DS is quite a bit younger, though, I realise.

I try not to feel guilty when they're bored. Mine get much more entertainment & attention than I ever did, and my parents never felt guilty, I'm sure!

My DC1 was an only child till the age of almost 9. Back then I was convinced that if only there was a sibling to play with, everything would be fine/more fun/les boring & I would feel less guilty.

The reality is that they get bored anyway, I've found.

Hope you're having a nice summer Queenofmyworld
