Very happy with our only 1 DC, Age 5 😀. Just looking for some advice on how to get him to understand that it's "not all about him" at groups. We attend swimming lessons and Karate once per week. We are finding that our little one seems to crave the teachers attention when they are trying to teach others. For example: He shouts them over once he has completed the instruction that they have gave him etc. He gets all the attention at home and seems to think he can get this all the time. He is not cheeky with it but comes across as demanding 😣. How do we explain to him that he needs to let the teacher have time to teach others and not just him. He is a delight in all other ways, has his moments like most kids, but on a whole is a good kid.

I would try not to worry he'll get there with time and gentle reminding.
He sounds similar to my 5 year old who has 2 younger siblings. They're still at that age where they are very much focused on their own wants and needs.

Just keep mentioning to wait for everyone to finish and to put his hand up rather than calling out, and give a lot of praise when he does do this to encourage it.

I have one DC too. We try to do lots of play dates and time with cousins so she isn't constantly the centre of attention. It's hard not to spoil them though!

We do try not to spoil him 😕. We don't give in to his demands or drop everything for him. We play game's etc but don't always let him. You might be right about playdates etc, will maybe arrange some for over the easter break. Another thing I have noticed is he is quite emotional when things don't go his way or when he get's frustrated with things. Not sure if this anything to do with being an only 1.
