Just a question...
My daughter is 4 months old and not long after having her my hair started falling out and continues to do so.. Was wondering if this is normal and how many other mums this has happened to? She's my first child as well.
Thank you for your replies Grin

Well, not 'normal' as in 'does this happen to us all when we've given birth.

I don't know if it can be 'a thing' though - never come across it myself, but hopefully this will bump for someone more knowledgeable to come along.

This happened to me. I had loads of baby hair grow back after a few months along my hair line. I think it is fairly normal.

badg3r · 20/08/2017 23:24

To clarify not normal as in it happens to everyone... but I have heard a few other mums say similar.

Heebejeebees · 20/08/2017 23:26

When you're pregnant you stop shedding hair at the normal rate - 100-150 hairs a day think... After the hormones fade 3-4 months post birth... It all starts shedding again, in my case awesome pregnant hair became thin and shit again - boo! Perfectly normal unfortunately!

It happened to me. Didn't really notice until it started growing back when dd was about six months old. I had dyed blonde hair and grew back my natural brown so more noticeable. Also know happened my mum and a friend.
My hairdresser said it's quite common after giving birth. I had fabulous hair during pregnancy, something about you lose less hair while brushing etc but then after birth you lose it again. Just what I was told, Not sure if it's fact
My DD is 2 now and my hairs pretty much back to normal so it does grow back Smile

Thank you all on the replies, helps a lot. No need to keep stressing now Grin

Try taking a pregnancy/breastfeeding or post natal supplement, I've been told it helps

Yeah it's the most irritating part of having babies.

No that's wrong, the most irritating part is when it grows in and you go through that itchy spiky period Angry

It's a normal post pregnancy thing - but some people don't notice it as it doesn't effect them greatly. I have thick hair, and I lost about half of it post partum. Not kidding you. It was coming out in clumps. Happened at similar time to baby sleeping through the night and her losing bits of hers too if I remember correctly.

Losing it wasn't a problem to me - it was the regrowth that was a nightmare.

3 years down the line and my hair is nearly back to its frizzy unmanageable pre baby glory!

shelley1990 · 22/08/2017 21:15

Yeah I have really thick hair too and notice it falling out more when I wash my hair and brush it Shock it's a nightmare

I lost an awful lot of hair postpartum, it came out in clumps when I washed it. It does get better xxx
