Being driven bonkers by Velcro child

How do I stay sane? DD (4) is very sociable but will not play on her own. The only activity that keeps her occupied is watching TV, which obviously isn't ideal for too long. How does anyone get anything done? I've arranged a couple of play dates but they've fallen through, so there is no one else for her to play with over the next few days. I know I should make the most of the cuddly times, and I do, but she will not leave me alone, all day!! How do you all manage? I'm a wreck my the time she's in bed.

Play dates were my only option, I'm afraid... If they have fallen through, last minute scramble to arrange new ones?! And 'arranged activities' at least every couple of days eg art workshops, local soft play etc so the focus wasn't always on one-to-one interaction.

Our budget doesn't stretch to workshops and regular soft play unfortunately. I'll get the playdates booked in for once her friends are back from holidays.

Our local leisure centre does soft play for £1 twice a week... Check to see if there are any toddler playgroups or similar. Other than that, regular visits to a library, playground if its not raining... Anything that gets you both out of the house so the interaction isn't as full on. DD is 6 now, it gets better and I've gotten more relaxed about TV time
