First shoes...back to Clarks in 6 weeks?

Hi everyone,

We had our little boys feet measured for the first time yesterday at Clarks and bought him his first 'proper' pair of shoes.

To be precise, he is 17 months old. He came out as a size 5.5F which the lady said is one of the largest sizes she's known for his age. We weren't surprised though as when he was born his feet and hands were huge! We used to call him thumper

The lady then suggested going back in 6 to 7 weeks. Does anyone else stick to this? Also Clarks prices are high but I'm happy with the shoes and that she really checked the width, growing space etc. But would love to hear where you all go- stick to Clarks or elsewhere?

Yes we do. We don't buy new shoes each time ad our local store are really good and only recommend getting new ones if their feet gave actually grown.
Children's feet grow so quickly they need measuring regularly as they often don't notice when shoes are becoming tight.

I just check when my dc's shoes are tight and go back when we need new ones. Is a faff taking dc to a shopping centre. I haven't got the time to go on the off chance.

Shoes tend to last 2 months at least when dc are little. Everyone is different and feet don't grow at a uniform rate.

My dd had massive feet and she went through those little shoes in no time. You just have to think that every child is going to wear all of the sizes. Your ds is just doing it quicker.

My dd is 12 now and her feet are average compared to her peers. We called her 'clown feet'! Your Thumper name is much better.

You can sell the toddler ones whereas people aren't going to buy school shoes that someone has grown out of in six weeks.

Try and see if you have an clarks outlet store near you, they do the measuring and the shoes are exactly the same quality just last year's stock and are generally about £10 to £15 cheaper x

They're quite good (at least my local is) at being honest if they need new shoes. It's just to get checked as their feet can grow that fast (but not usually thank God!)

Their feet are so soft at that age. The wrong shoes could really damage them.

I get them measured at clarks... Then search for the ones I want on eBay! Saves me so much money X

If it makes you feel any better, my nearly 11 month old is a 5f. 😔
