ds wants a sibling!

He is 8. Cries frequently that he wants a brother. I can't have anymore. I have tried to explain this to him but tells us to adopt one. Bless him. He does love small children.

Is adoption out of the question then?

Possibly silly suggestion but if not would a pet do?

Adoption is not out of the question but life is good and as an older mother who also works I wonder whether I would cope. Also ds is at private school and we couldn't afford to pay for two.
We are thinking of getting a dog.

I did ring an adoption agency a couple of years ago but was told we probably couldn't as dh works away. They said a child coming into our home would feel abandoned.
