Welcome to the Tea rooms newest incarnation. A cozy log cabin with a roaring log fire, comfy chintz sofas and a dedicated man about the house, our Butler, Mellors. Out of the windows you can see sparkling white snow gently drifted up under the green Christmas trees and bright blue skies. Children can all be packed off to play healthy outdoor stuff while we stay snug n warm in here with our mulled wine, tea, artisan hot chocolate and other beverages served in mugs, glasses or buckets.

The usual rules apply - no fisticuffs. And no messing with the aspidistra.

Going to see Rio 2 this afternoon with the YD and MrD.

MrD actively looking for somewhere to live.

I think that is good.
I need to make sure he doesn't just expect me to cover all the YD's holidays because I teach... I need time to do prep. And time for me.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/04/2014 19:10

That all sounds good. I liked the look of Rio 2 when we saw a trailer for it, although we haven't seen Rio. We went to see The Grand Budapest Hotel last night. I loved it.

I agree, Donki, that you should aim for some sort of split of the holiday care.

Donki · 06/04/2014 19:34

Maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for Rio 2. It was ok but I can't say as I really enjoyed it much. YD seemed to like it - and I think it was a better option than Captain America... the YD said he thought that would have too many guns.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 06/04/2014 19:41

Yes, all those American comic book hero films seem to rely very heavily on guns, explosions and special effects. We went to see one of the Iron Man films last year on The Girl's birthday (she was, to my surprise, keen to see it and it was about the only film showing that was appropriate for her age group) but I found it overwhelming. Too much noise, too many explosions.

Scout19075 · 07/04/2014 09:51

I have cabin fever. It's raining and SB and I can't be bothered with boots and wet weather clothes. He's happy with his Alphablocks DVDs but I'm climbing the walls. Have a few more jobs to do (like prepping stuff for tonight's dinner but then I need inspiration.

mistlethrush · 07/04/2014 09:56

I'm afraid that, whatever the weather, DS gets to go out for a walk every day (unless at school) - having the dog is a very good excuse - but we always feel better having had a stomp out in the rain - it makes being in in the dry so much nicer Grin

Donki · 07/04/2014 10:04

We WILL be going out later ?eyes waterproofs?

I expect there to be gnashings of teeth and rending of garments

Or at least wailing and slamming doors...

Scout19075 · 07/04/2014 10:17

We were out in it yesterday. If we actually had somewhere to be/do I would but I can't be bothered to fight our sloth feelings today. We have been outside for hours every day for a week. I know being outside is good but I feel oh so lazy today....

UniS · 07/04/2014 14:31

outside all morning . 3.5 hours of running bike club for 3 groups of kids. got rather damp despite full waterproofs and wellies.

Now spending the afternoon watching despicable me, eating chocolate and will be making some easter presents for grandparents later.

The YD said "could we garden?" - and spent an hour chopping things and running around outside whilst I weeded.

Goodness, the ground is still so saturated!

Donki · 07/04/2014 16:56

I need to go shopping to get things to make Easter egg nests with the YD. Maybe tomorrow.

mistlethrush · 07/04/2014 17:04

mistlehound gallops down the garden first thing in the morning (she actually 'courses' her way down, hoping to get a squirrel or blackbird) and gets thoroughly wet and muddy - the lawn is a quagmire in places and I have no hope in getting a fork out of some of the beds if I was to try to do any weeding!

Jacksmania · 07/04/2014 20:59

Furnace man can't come back until tomorrow. Thank goodness it's sunny out today, although not terribly warm.
Grrrr.

I wonder if Mellors would like to make me a cappuccino while I go put my feet up. I's tired today.

Donki, we saw Captain America on Friday. I was a bit worried because DS (6) doesn't really like the cinema just yet, it's too big and dark and loud, he says - although he thoroughly enjoyed every film we've seen, after we've gotten the preliminary tears and "I don't want to stay" out of the way.
There were quite a few guns involved, and lots of fighting, but it was quite good actually! I was worried about DS's reaction to a few things, he's a bit sensitive, but he said it wasn't scary.
There was also quite a bit of eye candy... Captain America is just so... mmmmmm... and his new sidekick isn't too bad either :o

Donki · 07/04/2014 23:20

I'm sure Mellors makes a superlative cappucino JM.

Sorry to hear that furnace man still hasn't fixed your furnace. I hope that he makes better progress tomorrow.

I'm interested in what you say about Captain America - I shall pass it on to the YD and see if he would like to go after all.

Why I don't mind if I do, thank you Mellors!

?Slurps large bucket of brandied hot chocolate?

?Makes bed, carefully laying out the beautiful luxorious donki blanket and plumping up the amazingly soft hand crocheted pillow?

Aaaaah!

Night All. Sweet dreams!

It seems as if my brother is in the final stages of planning his trip to England and Paris and Madrid. By the time he comes I will have been here for nine years. Bar a trip by my parents before SB was born and a trip by my mom when SB was NewbornScout, he is the first person to come and visit (I'm not counting my sister since she was actually here for uni, not me/us). Everyone always says they want to visit but no one ever does but then they moan if we don't see them in the two weeks we go home. Best bit is BrotherScout will be here for SB's birthday and he's leaving his girlfriend at home.

Off to the hospital for SB's eye clinic appointment. If all goes well they'll release him back to community opticians after today.

Donki · 08/04/2014 08:50

I'm keeping all my appendages crossed for SB's eye appointment.

[Strangely contorted donkey emoticon]

UniS · 08/04/2014 16:15

Should it be eyes crossed for small scout?
Boys sporting holiday continues, today was swimming, table tennis , squash and football.

Scout19075 · 08/04/2014 19:54

All went well today. WHEW! The doctor told SB to tell the receptionist "I'm too clever to come back here" and he's been telling everyone that now. Makes a change from telling everyone about his new balance bike. Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 08/04/2014 20:12

That's great, Scout! I had mixed feelings when The Girl was discharged from her hospital, because the consultant was so charming that I was quite sad not to see him again.

mistlethrush · 08/04/2014 20:22

Very good news Scout! And good news on the brother coming on a visit too.

Scout19075 · 08/04/2014 20:27

He probably should never have been sent to the consultant/hospital eye clinic but the optician who first saw him didn't seem confident in dealing with small people. For example she didn't believe me that he knows all of his letters and insisted on using pictures for his test when even the hospital used letters because they provide more accurate detail. Am going to have to find a new optician but am happy to not have to go to YOUTHospital for yet another appointment.

I've been jam jar window shopping. Someone needs to stop me.

Donki · 08/04/2014 20:42

:)
Excellent news Scout!

?Offers celebratory carrot wine to all?

I have just sent MrD the details of about 10 flats in his price range... but over this side of Leefs so that it is easy for him to see the YD and less convenient for OW

Donki · 08/04/2014 20:43

One of the flats is abot 10 yards away - probably a bit too close...

Donki · 08/04/2014 20:56

I'm going to watch the proram on Autism from last week - last chance and MrD is "out"

Scout19075 · 08/04/2014 21:10

Donki, Lovey, why are you doing MrDonki's flat-hunting?
