Tearoom 35: Sun, sea and sand...

Bit grey here today unfortunately - could have done with some more nice weather - Monday was mostly travelling and working yesterday, although did get to wander around in Norfolk for part of it.

at all the bosom clasping... can one come in now?? one prefers not to clasp ones bosom in public.

Got very dirty at work (again) today, I was jet washing muddy cable again, which didn't make it much cleaner than before, but it still had to be re-coiled after the wash.
We finally got to the bottom of why DS keeps fiddling with his pants... if you will pardon the pun. They are too small. when he said this I did wonder what size he was wearing, turned out to be age 5-6 today but he still had a couple of age 4-5 pairs... oops. Must buy him some more,bigger, underwear soon.

I went for a long bike ride today- well it felt longer than it was, 55km sounds better than 35 miles. Was fun, and somewhere that I consider to be quite along way away turned out to be only 45 minutes away by bike.

Sounds very positive UniS. I don't know when we will get round to getting the bikes out properly - at least the dog will be able to keep up without a trailer now though! DS is in age 10 pants. Mind you he put on a pair of age 12 shorts this morning (bought in a sale last summer as 'he'd grow into them') and they are absolutely fine - I'm not sure that the waist changes at all between about 9 and 12 or more! I have managed to find some Teva sandals for him in Cotswold Outdoor shop - we wanted to replace the ones that he's enjoyed wearing every (spring, ) summer (and autumn) for the past 3 years but were struggling to find anything suitable - we wanted something that had solid soles so that he can paddle in them or walk in the rain and not spoil them. Bonus was that they were only £20 - I had almost resigned to getting him the adult women's ones at £40. The bonus is that they are lime green which he will really like. He still has a thing about green - he now has some nice cotton shorts in emerald green and they appear to be picked out as the preferred garment of choice for the weekend now (they are age 11 or 12 too).

Had a completely useless hospital appointment yesterday. Oh well, SB got a hospital breakfast and a bus ride home (and, therefore, a trip to the playground on the walk from the bus station) so he was quite happy.

the Uni clan were out on cycles again today. DH proved he CAN unicycle faster than a 7 year old who isn't trying very hard can bicycle. I was as usual bringing up the rear being not as fast as either of them. Ho hum.

Dog flat out on her back, dreaming and snoring, paws flicking every now and then.... I think she's still dreaming of the lure racing round the greyhound track yesterday....

We're having a quiet day after a busy weekend and poor SmallBoy didn't get nearly as much sleep as he needs. We're watching CBeebies right now and he looks like he could just fall asleep (though he's fighting it). Called my mom last night to wish her a happy mother's day and SB got on the phone and chatted like he talks to her every day. It was priceless (and totally made my mom's day!).

Yesterday with DH and boy I was also on a unicycle, but not such a large wheel as DH, hence slower. I sold my BIG wheel when boy was a baby.

Today I went out on my 2 wheel bike ( the light er one) and did a 67km hilly ride in just a shade under 4 hours, which I was very pleased with.

Boy is learning to unicycle, he can ride quite a way - maybe 20 metres- holding my hand for a bit of sport or he can do a 3 metre "gap" between walls on his own, his next "gap" target is 7m across the playground.

He is far from the best unicyclist in his school . I think that currently 3 other children have ( and can ride reasonably well) their own unicycles, 2 more moved on to high school at start of the year. There are a further 6 or so who can ride across the playground and many more who have given it a go with varying degrees of success. This is a school with a unicycle club.

[http://www.gwc.org.uk/cms/beyond-the-classroom/clubs-and-societies/unicycle-club/ this is another] school unicycle club, ours looks a bit like the section at 3 mins on this vid, small playground 6 -8 kids at various stages of wobble. Only its primary kids .

Our school are not quite so imaginative in their clubs... Although, thankfully, now DS has moved 6, he now says that he likes cubs - he was struggling being in the same 6 as one boy who takes great pleasure in winding DS up to snapping point, then making a huge deal about the (normal boys' joshing) thump that he gets, and putting on the tears.... which of course dry up immediately that DS gets told off and are replaced by a nasty grin.

DS is enjoying cricket club this term though - we will have to find a group he can join out of school I think as he seems to have a bit of a flair for bowling at the moment which would be good to support...
